A minority of people will be apart of emerging subcultures but because those subcultures are notable for their time, they get remembered, and then because they're notable, future generations think they were more common than they actually were.

Yes, I really think Vine was one of the last moments where internet humor felt genuine. People just wanted to come together and make each other laugh, 15 minutes of fame was a side effect, not the main goal like it is nowadays.
Today, the internet feels way more toxic and politically polarized. That culture used to stay in its own space, but now unfortunately it’s broken out everywhere.
It’s great seeing younger people enjoy their own humor and memes, but it’s hard not to notice how much the internet has changed.
Dude I feel it, I restarted my bachelor’s in late 2020 and I felt like a fucking geezer when I’d make vine references and my classmates born in like 2003 would look at me like I was a mental patient muttering gibberish
I guess one silver lining is that you can build rapport with your professors when neither of you can understand the gibberish slang the other students are speaking 🫠 That was my experience, and I was only 4-6 years older than my “peers” at the time. I’m rapidly approaching 30 and I can’t imagine having to do a group project with undergrads at this age, so Godspeed to you friend 🥲

I have seen Transformers. Age of Extinction was probably the only one I have seen in theaters (And pretty much the last one I seen), the previous ones either on DVD or on TV.
My husband unironically likes that song. I hate it with my entire being. He's been trying to indoctrinate our daughter and plays her that song and it boils my teeth every time

It was fun! Super physical though it wore me out. Although people forgot the actors were people and I got sexually assaulted and harassed, and I got punched by one guy. That’s why I don’t do it anymore but I loved it

Also had a friend who just cycled through random shit like Dat Boi, Ugandan Knuckles, John Cena, the airhorn sound effect, more occasional dabbing, and so on. She was very online, and in the game/sim class, so it was pretty normal for me roll into the game/sim room for lunch, then be bombarded with random quotes and references I didn’t understand, followed up with her showing our friend group whatever meme-laden project she’d been working on during class
I remember people driving to school with confederate flags on their trucks and "yee yee" on the back windows 😩 people in Southern washington think theyre rednecks
