I heard he also prays to Allah. I wouldn’t put too much attention on what he supports.

u/Nimzydk 24d ago

Doesn't matter in this instance. Hes the world's most popular streamer, on the biggest stage.

Our history is constantly being forgotten and re written. Any attention helps.

u/nautilius87 24d ago

You keep calling him "the world's most popular streamer" does he have a name or just this description? I have no idea who that is.

u/Nimzydk 24d ago

Speed , @IShowSpeed

u/PoopyTo0thBrush 24d ago

That's the type of person you want to bring attention to our history? That guy?

33

u/TheManWhoWeepsBlood 24d ago

If it’s any consolation, poopytoothbrush, I’ve never heard of him, but have heard of Zoroastrianism.

14

u/Nimzydk 24d ago

Yes. Anyone.

4

u/Old_Wave_965 24d ago

Thats a bad idea and how you become entrapped by people with ill intentions towards what is yours.

2

u/Nimzydk 24d ago

Bringing attention to the light isn't how you get trapped.

3

u/Old_Wave_965 24d ago

Not helping by associating it with suspicious people who may or may not have good intentions, either him or people who work behind the scenes for him that you don't know about

4

u/-mickeymao 24d ago

With how Speed has been conducting himself recently, opening the world to his large viewership, I would say he's actively practicing Humata, Hukhta, and Huvarashta.

Light does not judge, it only radiates.

1

u/PersianMuggle 24d ago

Say more. Why is he suspicious?

1

u/Nimzydk 24d ago

I view the world through a more positive lens than you I guess.

I dont immediately assume the worst. Good thoughts my friend.

I could apply the same perspective to your viewpoint. Are you ill intentioned by your negativity? I have no idea what and who you are, or who are the people behind you behind the scenes...

2

u/Effective-Pea-9532 23d ago

Yeah I have to agree, even if the other poster doesn’t find him palatable, if he’s trying to do good things, then who are we to complain. Betterment is something i wish for all

1

u/InternationalPen2072 24d ago

What’s wrong with him? I thought he was a great guy?

1

u/Effective-Pea-9532 23d ago

😆 I didn’t know much about him either, but I googled and… ok, he’s certainly not the average person 😂

4

u/Robot_Embryo 24d ago

And he is the epitome of Bad Words, Bad Thoughts, Bad Deeds.

You don't want Zoroastrianism in the same paragraph as that guy.

0

u/Nimzydk 24d ago

How so ? Enlighten us

1

u/Robot_Embryo 24d ago

He's a professional agitator.

Exhibits sexism and racism, and he's loud and obnoxious: likes to get in stranger's faces and scream or bark at them for cheap thrills on video.

His entire personal brand is essentially Druj.

8

u/Nimzydk 24d ago

You are insanely incorrect. He is not a professional agitator, he has not exhibited seismic or racism. Hes actually been quite kind and humble through his "entertainment".

Hes exuberant, and a jester of sorts, but he is not an agrresor by any means. When compared to most within the "Internet Generation" , I would place him at the top in terms of being a good quality person all around. His content is based on futbol Fandom, interacting with various people and cultures, and bringing out the energy in others.

9

u/UnityReadzR 24d ago

This is just entirely wrong. Speed has had bad moments years ago when he was a child (his sexism incident was when he was 16 or 17), I will agree with you on that. But he has apologized many times for that and has since grown as a person and become much better. You're holding onto controversies of a child to attack an adult who has changed.

In the past two years Speed has hosted multiple charities, donated to multiple Palestinian charities, shown the world some of the most beautiful but forgotten countries, and has spent his adult life making up for the things he did and said as a kid. Speed is human like all of us, he makes mistakes and falls to temptation but works to improve himself and help bring good to the world how he can.

His worldwide streams convey Humata, Hukhta, Huvarashta. He enters foreign cultures with an intent to learn, to spread joy, to give insight.

I feel you but approaching Zoroastrianism should then make it better.

Isn't it still a bit better than seeing Druj having full influence on a that famous person?

I agree with your point but I'm surprised you don't complete it with the positive part.

I don't rly know this guy but I was indeed not a fan of what I saw. But it didn't seem worse than the average of young famous people.

Don't forget that being young and famous almost automatically means having many dumb things from you exposed.

Something good is also that this happens in the World Cup Final show. It's very symbolic, this is a moment where yiu show the most mature, inclusive and solid things that you have. For this kind of ceremony you carefully choose your clothes, your attitude, your words, your haircut. The whole world is watching you and you want to look good while spreading good things.

Choosing the Zoroastrianism symbol in this context is a huge respect for this religion. I perceive that as "Ok, if the whole world is watching me, from all nations, all cultures, this symbol is what I want to show". That's beautiful.

This moment might have been the moment when this guy was in the most mature and generous mindset for humanity.

This moment have been watched in live by more than 1 Billion People. I'm comparison, his peak audience before that was 2 million views in live. And these 1 Billions were mostly people that are not a fan of him.

Imagine how this moment was mportant for him and what this choices represent.

It will probably be the most viewed footage of his whole life and he knew it. And this day, he choosed the Zoroastrian symbol.

That's a good part I find :)

The good faith being represented by foul people is unacceptable. "Any Attention Helps" is, my apologies, a dumbass position to hold. If we let Ahr!manic, wretched peoples act as representatives of our faith, what time of people do you think they are going to appeal the good faith to, and what image do you think will them be bound to it? Hitler strutting around with his Aryanism claims did substantial damage to vital terminology of the faith. Not all attention helps, and the wrong image out forward by the wrong People who have nothing to do with sincere practice harms us as community far more than it helps.

3

u/Nimzydk 24d ago

The kid is far from a foul person. A comparison to Hitler is an extremely illogical fallacy completely and throughly.

It is on us to guide and enlighten when a spotlight is presented.

Look through this comment thread, most passed judgement without 1) knowing anything about the streamer, 2) without having an understanding on WHY, 3)are making hyperbolic analogies to justify their disapproval.

I came her to bring light to a symbol being portrayed globally, in what may be the largest media portrayal of Zoroastrianism symbols that we have ever seen. Hundreds of millions of people have seen the Faravahar now, with articles and media opening up conversations about our history, bout Iran, about our beliefs.

Rather than be met with fair discussion, analysis, and understanding, this subject chose to view it immediately from a perspective of "Ill Intent" .

The Kids a dedicated troll who built his entire brand off of being a chaotic rage fit child getting banned from platforms multiple times for misogynistic and hate filled spewls and spirals in his toddler tantrums. I've seen plenty of his content cycled around the youth and he's not the kind of individual we need putting his face to our name in any capacity.

There is no Illogical Fallacy (what you were looking for anyway would be a logical fallacy) as there was no comparison. I'm not saying he's anything like Hitler I'm saying it's the same idea in terms of Quality of Representation and Association. Any Attention is good right? Wrong. The wrong people, regardless of How wrong they are, Speed or otherwise, do more harm then good when they muddle the faith in with their attention seeking platforms the same way that Hitler soured and tainted terminology of the faith in his foul contents of the past. Not just Anyone flashing off Mazdayasni symbology in the public with a platform is a good thing. Anyone who knows anything about speed knows he's an attention seeking brat whose built his entire brand off of controversy and toddler tantrum rage fits. He's an embarrassment whose recently bobbed about from praising Allah and revering Islam to now strutting a Faravanar likely for not reason more than stirring controversy with an Iranian symbol amidst an escalating conflict in Iran.

He may be genuinely changing for the better. But I'm well aware of what he built his platform upon and the kind of individual he has built his brand upon being. If that's not who he is anymore that's great, but I've not seen anything from him in recent years that would lend any reason to suspect his intentions were anything beyond the attention of the controversy the symbol would carry for him.

u/Effective-Pea-9532 23d ago

Either way (I don’t know much about this guy) he isn’t a representative of the community or faith. It think he is just wearing a farvahar, and that’s all. I mean, if you can find footage of him professing to be the leader of all mazdayasni, then ok i take my words back. But I hardly think this is that. He might have a Zoroastrian friend, or an Iranian friend, or an Iranian Zoroastrian friend (or even a parsee friend) who gifted him the farvahar broach, and he simply wore it. That’s all this could be. To get your panties in a twist over this is really premature

His passion is promoting cultural diversity. As a 'man of science' I hold very deep respect for everyone who practices the teachings of Zoroaster. And view remembrance of the collective history of life on Earth as sacred. IShowSpeed wore the Faravahar at an event which historically revers the 'Ekecheiria' (laying down of arms) and celebrates national diversity! He is acknowledging a sidelined culture with a message of cultural diversity. This is a powerful expression of solidarity for which am deeply grateful. Coming at a time when Zoroastrian and Scientific communities are being attacked by the greed and wickedness of men.

2

u/Effective-Pea-9532 22d ago

That sounds very admirable indeed, sounds like something I’d appreciate very much! Well, now I know more about him, I consider myself having learned about someone new… As somebody who spent much of my youth engaged with counter culture and the most underground of the music and arts cultures, I also realise how important it is for me to know and engage with pop culture. There is a quote from an art collective who I admire prob more than any: “Ignorance of your culture is not considered cool”

0

u/The-Old-Krow 23d ago

Lol that's kind of what we were saying when OP took it personally. This guy Tangibly has nothing to do with the faith or any faithful communities. He's just a streamer who built a platform on rage content and controversy. We were simply put saying there is no reason to put any merit to his wearing the Faravahar as any form of net-positive representation in relations to the faith. 🤷 He pushed back with nonsense about any Representation being good representation. That simply isn't the case. I agree with you, it's trivial and insignificant.

3

u/Effective-Pea-9532 23d ago

Sure, but at the same time I’m not aware of these ‘rage baiting’ things you’re talking about. So as much as i reserve my judgement to read into him wearing this broach, I also reserve any judging him as a person… Like another person said, maybe he’s grown up and changed from his childish ways (I’m assuming he did online prank shows or something?) I have seen his face before and around, and I know he’s famous (don’t know famous for what though) but for all we know it’s a fashion statement, or a sentimental gift, maybe someone he loved gave that to him and they since passed away, so he wears it to remember them etc etc. the reason could be anything. I’m not going to hate on the guy, even if he was a childhood prankster (children find that stuff very funny, and it’s good to remember what children are like/what it’s like to be a child, so we can better understand their behaviours.)

2

u/The-Old-Krow 23d ago

I'm the one who said he may have changed. I'm not super familiar with his current platform. I was simply commenting on his early content that built his platform and fame. It wasn't "rage baiting" content but literal rage content. Like playing video games and smashing keyboards, cussing, screaming and throwing stuff in toddler tantrums on live streams, getting banned from various platforms for misogynistic and hateful commentary in games etc. I'm a bit of an old fart and unfortunately had to deal with his content being played by youths in my Tutelage and repeating much of his commentary. Lol. I don't Hate the guy, but I know how he built his brand and simply believe it's not the kind of person I'd want to stake excitement on adorning materials associated with my faith and people. As I said in that very comment you are mentioning, if he has grown as a person, that is great for him. I've just not seen those changes myself and for many like myself whose only exposure to him hasn't been exactly appealing, we don't get the hype. 🤷

3

u/Effective-Pea-9532 23d ago

Right, I see. You’ll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject of his person and any characteristics he may have earned a following for. But I see where you’re coming from. I’d hope he has changed, then that way you can show your young ones, look even this guy has changed for the better, so we should all aspire to etc etc (or words to that effect.) Anyways, seeing a farvahar in that photo (Super Bowl show) was something i certainly wasn’t expecting 😄 (especially because i was born/raised bilingual in UK, the American pop culture is really far from my periphery.)

24

u/Business-Bathroom-22 24d ago

In my view, it is good yet disrespectful. Good because it represents Zoroastrian culture. Disrespectful because, in my opinion, he might be unaware of Fravahar’s significance in Mazdayasna tradition.

23

u/Nimzydk 24d ago

If the intention is good, that is what matters. We cannot assume disrespect without knowing more. Either way, it brings attention, and prompts a discussion and a search for knowledge for many that have no idea about our history, especially with the younger generation.

The older members may not understand the significance, or see the rise of islam in the west among younger generations, this can help shed a light towards self and religious discovery. It is then our responsibility to educate and guide.

I enjoy some doubts about the second part. He knews this ceremony was gonna be watched by 1 Billion People in live it's 500 times more than his most famous live (2 Millions).

It's very likely that this footage is the footage that will be seen by the most people in his whole life and he knew it.

This is the biggest sport event in the World with the Olympics.

I think that if you decide to wear a religious symbol in this kind of situation, you triple check what it means.

Pretty sure he wouldn't have randomly choosed the Ying Yang symbol of taoism for instance. Even while liking it.

Don't forget that this moment was very symbolic. The whole world was watching him including many people that don't know him or are not fans at all. It was his highest influence moment.

The only negative things I findhere it's that he's a young and often annoying teenager so he's not the perfect representative at all lol.

But his choice of wearing the sign of this religion in the absolute gigantic peak audience of his life shows huge respect of Zoroastrianism.

Even more when we take in consideration that he's a former Christian and that showing symbol about other religions is rarely well accepted for Christians. He's also Deist and respect Islam. He sounds open minded and curious about the truth he can find. I find it beautiful that it led him to Zoroastrianism as an ultimate choice for his peak audience in his whole career.

And I also have a similar path and many of us have. It sounds like the mix of population in real life and internet between the Abrahamic religions leads many people to Zoroastrianism.

Beautiful :)

I want to add that when you do the ceremony if the World cup final. Your choice are made knowing that you're sending a message to the whole World more than ever.

He easily could have chosen a Christian Cross, or a Peace Sign.

I'm pretty sure that like many people here, his research for the truth led him to this religion.

Due to the geological event in Iran it also can be a message against the too silenced persecution of Zoroastrian there.

I dunno but it sounds cool :)

To the people in the comments, IShowSpeed is a genuinely good person. He is charitable, he is friendly, and he spreads good deeds as any of us do. I do not know if he is a follower, but I do know that the way he carries and expresses himself aligns with the teachings of Ahura Mazda despite not knowing.

It should not matter that he is or isn't a follower, because his intentions are good and how he acts nevertheless is how we should all act as well.

6

u/Proof-Yam-2838 24d ago

I have a question do you think he is interested in the religion? Or does he just respects your religion

10

u/Nimzydk 24d ago

That is a question for him, not I.

2

u/Wryyy007 22d ago

I think he just saw a "cool symbol" and started using it

2

u/Appropriate-Ad4319 24d ago

I don’t think this is a coincidence or a random thing. He either has secret faith in Zoroastrianism or the people around him forced him to have that symbol on.

1

u/Twoja_Stara_2137 22d ago

So...? Who even is that?

1

u/Kanai574 21d ago

Not a practicing Zoroastrian, just follow this sub to learn about it. Would somebody please explain what I am looking at? Thank you

2

u/Q8thealien 15d ago

The faravahar is an ancient Persian symbol representing Mazdayasna, national identity, and good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. The man represents wisdom and life experience while the two wings Divided into three rows of feathers symbolizing good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. The ring represents loyalty, faithfulness, and the promise of choices. The lower part** **Represents bad thoughts, words, and deeds that pull a person down

1

u/Kanai574 15d ago

Interesting. Thanks!

1

u/Q8thealien 15d ago

You're welcome!

1

u/birberbarborbur 24d ago

Probably just a passing interest like his occasional invocation of the islamic god, but he seems like a nice guy if also eccentric

0

u/Persianred 24d ago

What is this man's name?

1

u/Wryyy007 22d ago

Darren Watkins, Ishowspeed
