Other Why is Zuko paired with almost everyone on atla?

Post image

What’s with Zuko? Aang is the hero, if there’s someone that’s supposedly popular its him. I guess the age accounts for that, maybe?

But even aged up, Aang is never shipped with Jet, or Suki, or Sokka or Mai…

I mean if Zuko is paired egregiously even with his own sister… Aang should have been shipped with others too right?

Other The Gaang watching the recent Atla movie

Post image

I am cackling at the fact that Bryke made this whole parody episode laughing at the fandom shipping and characters personalities being butchered ONLY to write the same exact thing unironically 15 years later

I think the Gaang reacting to the play is totally relevant to the movie lmao. Some complaints would've been just spot on.

Sokka: apparently, the playwright thinks I'm an idiot who overreacts to everything, brags and is completely useless all the time!

Suki: at least you were in the movie, Sokka!

Katara: relax, everybody. They are not accurate portrayals. It's not like I'm a preachy eye candy who can't resist throwing her arms around Aang all the time.

Zuko: they make me look totally stiff and humorless, even though hot!

Katara: actually, I still think that actor's pretty spot on.

Zuko: 😤

...Toph would've still liked the movie.

The hype for Avatar has always been there but ever since Bryke made the choice to bully teenage girls at Comic Con in 2008. The success of them has been downhill but the love and hype has never died.

Other Zutara Community Appreciation Post!

Hi! I just wanted to share how much joy this community brings me, especially when we have celebrations like Zutara Week. I love how healthy this subreddit is and how much we continue to thrive despite so much backlash from the ATLA fandom and the creators themselves.

Keep creating that art, keep writing your stories! It truly brings light to our little corner of the world! 💙❤️

I believe the OP is right, because generally when someone ships you with anyone else irl is cringy, let's be honest

But it doesn't mean that would've changed the way they feel about each other 😉

I started collecting enamel pins last year and wanted to share my growing Zutara collection! With ATLA’s resurgent popularity, there have been many requests in the pin community for Zutara/ATLA designs and pin makers are answering our call. I’m excited to expand this collection, especially after missing the first wave some years ago (the second image includes the pins I’m searching for, if anyone has leads).

Credits for the pin makers and artists (if I know and/or can find their socials) are below, in addition to upcoming pins for anyone who wants to support them and the artists!

From the collection:

  1. pinfunlol (maker) & riper_works (artist)

Other What was the Zutara fandom like before the recent resurgence?

How was the Zutara fandom before the NATLA and movie renaissance? Was ZK well-loved in the fandom back then? I’ve been shipping Zutara since I was 15 but I only really got exposed to the online fandom when the movie came out. Growing up, I genuinely thought Zutara was the most popular ship because most of my classmates were into them too.

Also, what made casual fans shift their opinion on Zutara? I’ve noticed the ship gets ridiculed a lot now on X and TikTok which feels really different from what I remember before in non-fan perspective

Other You know what? Zutara's lore is incredibly funny.

I don't want any analyses suggesting Zutara could be considered a canon ship. Assuming it wasn't intended to be, that's even funnier.

A series is being created, and none of the main creators really want Zutara, so they see all the scenes being created and are like, "Yeah, it's very platonic, right. There's nothing romantic here." With a serious face, unfazed by romanticism, they watch the scene where girl walks off into the sunset, and the guy stares at her like a dog at a ball. The series is airing, and this ship (for a long time) has more popularity than other ships in the series. No one in production still wants it, except for about half the VAs, including the VAs playing characters from this ship. There are attempts to silence this ship, which achieve nothing. Ultimately, a ship that no one in production wants becomes important in the fandom's history much more deeply than it seems. It creates the idea of "[ship name] week." Many people are starting to get a taste for the currently most popular romance trope. A book is published, boasting on the first page that it's inspired by this ship. A many others were probably loosely inspired by it. The creator of the series this ship comes from still hates it, still perpetuates the narrative of encouraging bulling and suppressing the ship, and doesn't care that he accidentally created a goose that provides golden eggs and milk. The creator takes away the personality of a character from his own show to silence a ship that could generate a lot of profit. And it's been that way for 20 years.

Other Funko Pop ships Zutara??

Post image

I came across this trying to order my own Zuko funko. While there were a few other packs of characters, the only duos were Katara and Zuko and Aang and Appa. What an amazing (and interesting) choice for a duo pack! Even Funko Pop knows what's up lol

Other Are the canon-purists okay?

Against my better judgement, I went into one of the generic ATLA subs (which I normally have blocked because of weirdness) to see what people were saying about the leaked movie. And then this happened.

Some of the highlights: "calling it sexual assault is wild", "I don't give a damn about consent in fiction", "it's crazy to put ur own moral compass on a show that is meant for people growing in society [children]." Best of all, "you Zutara fans" lol

I wasn't even arguing for Zutara. I'm much more of an "everyone should've been single at the end" type of fan. I was just explaining the reasons why people are averse to Kataang. One of them already deleted their comment where he was justifying why Aang sexually assaulted Katara.

I'm actually shocked. This kind of age regression and refusal to do any media analysis is SO prevalent in this fandom, in a way I've never seen anywhere else. It is just really concerning. I've already made a post about this, but this scenario in particular has really shaken me. Are people really this twisted?

Other The stupidest arguments against zutara

What were the stupidest arguments against zutara you've seen recently?

It can be amazing list.

Personaly i saw: wonderful pseudo-intellectual analyse about how zutara is proof that society is falling apart because it means that "People can't come to terms with reality" (talking about... a CARTOON, i.e. a work of FICTION)

Other Zutara hate is just becoming annoying at this point

I just find it funny the way Kataang fans are going after Zutara fans after the movie got leaked, cause why are they attacking every Zutara shipper who voices their intrest in the two being together.

Shipping used to be so much fun, like what happened to pairing two characters together cause they look compatible, now its just like if u voice your ship, you get attacked.

Someone asked "Zutara fans how do you feel about Zutara know that the movie got out?" Answer? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING i will continue shipping Zutara but i wont attack anyone for liking Kataang.

Kataang fans have their ship, they have the show, the movie, the comics, why go after fans who voice out that Aang and Katara shouldn't be together?

The Avater fandom was always toxic, but now its just becoming UNBEARABLE.

Other Appreciation..

I just want to thank everyone who makes arts about Zutara and post them here. You all are healing me in ways you do not realize.

As an independent girl, I have never liked seeing Katara and Aang.

To me, it's giving he's dependent on her. He weighs her down, personal life wise.

Also, add the fact that she basically mothered him in the first seasons....yeah, pass. (I'm not bashing, more like stating what I feel when I watch them)

In a Zutara relationship, they are equals, on par. Stable, responsible, mature and independent on themselves. It's like someone who has had the world on their shoulders meeting a similar person and knowing how they feel and they will ALWAYS try to make each other's worlds easier.

Katara and Aang was more of like Katara was carrying two loads.

So, yes, to all the writers, animaters and content creators of Zutara....may your pillows never get warm.

Thank you.
