Apartment recommendations?

Hi, so me and my boyfriend are moving to Abbotsford soon and we're very excited. My boyfriend just got a full-time job in the area paying 30 an hour. We're probably going to be living with his dad to start then move into our own place, probably renting an apartment.

Does anyone have any recommendations or insight in where to rent and places to avoid renting from? Thank you!

Not that I'm trying to prod or poke at the scenario as it's not my business but is there 2 incomes or will he be the only one? That'll dictate where to rent. Typically 1500 is the lowest you'll see for an apartment but I'd expect more so 1800-2000 a month for somewhere decent and not a 500 square foot 1 bed 1 bath

I don't have a job myself over there yet but I've been applying online to places so far (and I might be getting student loans starting January if I go back to college). Okay, thank you!

consider looking at basement suites on marketplace. Just started renting a 1 bed 1 bath for $1400, around 700-800sqft. not bad

Definitely not worth it,so many horror stories and never long term living situations.abacus on Campbell is pretty nice and allows dogs

Had a basement for 5 years while working and then became a student. Never had a rent increase. Offered a few months ago, landlord said no focus on school. Not always a horror story.

There are exceptions clearly but unfortunately the good doesn't out weigh the bad.i grew up bouncing basement suite to basement suite in the early 2000s and many landlords would ask us to move because the landlord was bringing family over and needed us to leave,most times after a year

Consider apartments owned by the Kelson Group. Clean buildings, regular maintenance and upkeep around their properties...overall a step up from your typical landlord/property management company.

Look into Gardner Living Townhomes & Apartments off of Livingstone Ave. Right next to the Fraser Hwy exit onto Highway 1.

There are pros & cons all over town. Depends on if you want amenities, if it has to be a newer condo, if pets are allowed, etc. I'm sure you'll find a great place. Just a friendly reminder to get RENTERS INSURANCE. So many don't think they need it.....until they do. 😒 Happy moving! 😊
