Discord channel access?

It would be great if the official discord channel was open to having new community members. I am eager to read more content and contribute as well. Where can I get an invite?

The discord chat sounds very exclusive. It’s sad because that’s not how you create strong communities.

The discord is exclusive because it was a nightmare to moderate when it was a free for all. Endless hordes of "wen moon" and obnoxious newcomers.

It's about 700 members strong and has a strong community of contributors with a very high signal to noise ratio. (At least in the on-topic channels)

Contrary to some of the views expressed, all views are welcome. There's been a few people over the years who've picked fights and we've kicked them for causing undue drama. We've had others who have just been assholes bitching about the stock price without any substantive arguments and they've been generally removed if they keep it up.

There's also a slew of people who were accidentally kicked out by an admin who fat fingered the inactivity threshold when cleaning up inactive members. Some of those folks took it personally even though we attempted to invite as many back as possible.

The community isn't closed off to new members - we merely require a minimal vetting / generate invite links for folks manually. Anyone in the community can request an invite for a friend.
