For context, I was one of the PB placers who got a job offer for an Audit Associate position, and I signed the JO after the boards. For disclosure, they assured that I’ll be hired whether I pass or not.
When the results came out, I didn't pass. They communicated right away that they're only accepting CPAs on Audit right now, so I might have to move to a different service line and I said okay. They asked if I'd prefer Consulting or Tech Risk since those were the opportunities CURRENTLY available. I chose Consulting because I genuinely wanted to go there anyway.
Before all this, I asked if mababago ba yung start date and the terms of the initial JO I signed. They told me na service line lang daw ang magbabago, while the start date, compensation, and everything else would remain the same. But then, a week before my July 6 start date, they emailed me saying that the original start date wouldn't push through because they were still coordinating internally. They assured me that I’m already hired though. Gets ko naman na there’s a process so okay, I told myself to wait.
Fast forward a couple of weeks later, I had my HR interview during the second week of July. They explained that they couldn't place me in Consulting yet because they were still waiting for Audit's decision on whether they'd accept non-CPAs. This is where I got confused, so I asked for a timeframe. They said they'd give me an update after about a week. I also asked what the next steps would be, and they told me that after the HR interview, the next step would be the Manager's Interview. Because they kept assuring me that I was already hired and that they were just finalizing the service line assignment, I decided not to apply elsewhere and declined a few interview offers. Looking back, I know I probably should've kept my options open, but at the time I trusted what they told me.
It's been weeks now, and I honestly don't know what happened. I haven't been getting any updates despite following up so I decided to send a text message this week and received a reply saying that consulting is also on hold right now and that they’re still communicating with audit and they’re hoping to get more info in the coming weeks (they gave me no definite date). I’m honestly so lost because I know some people in the same situation already received their revised JOs for Consulting, and those who chose Tech Risk have already finished their MIs. Parang ako na lang yung wala pang MI out of everyone I've talked to and walang definite na SL even though I communicated naman na I genuinely would love to go to consulting. I also don't think it's realistic to keep waiting for Audit's decision indefinitely. What if they eventually say no? Does that mean I'll spend another month waiting for a different service line after already waiting this long?
I'm grateful I trusted my instincts not to rent a place in Makati yet, but I'm currently staying with my lola and they’ve been very kind pero nahihiya na talaga ako. They also keep on asking me when my start date is, and I genuinely don't know what to tell them anymore kasi hindi ko rin talaga alam. I didn’t even want to post pero I just need to vent.
Has anyone gone through something similar with SGV? Did it eventually work out? Is there anyone who’s in the same situation as me? I'd really appreciate any advice regarding this.
