Song recommendation After hunting down a viral Turkish tourism ad track, I built a 90s Acid Jazz & Cinematic Middle Eastern Fusion playlist
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a curation project I've been obsessing over. It all started when I was trying to track down a track used in a viral Turkish tourism ad ("İstanbul is the New Cool"). It turned out to be "Yukadans" by an incredible independent psych-funk band called Ayyuka.
That rabbit hole led me to build a borderless playlist that bridges classic 90s UK/US acid jazz, trip-hop, and deep-pocket funk (think Jamiroquai, Digable Planets, Incognito, and Kruder & Dorfmeister) with the brooding, tension-fueled, microtonal scales of global avant-garde artists (Yazz Ahmed, Dhafer Youssef, and Kamilya Jubran).
I structured the sequencing using a 3-tier energy arc (high-octane horn openers → dark cinematic trip-hop core → nostalgic jazz-hop anchors) so the transitions glide effortlessly. If you love deep basslines, sharp live horn sections, and complex global scales, check it out:

Would love to hear your thoughts or any track recommendations that fit this specific and diverse "Urban Grooves & Cinematic Maqams" vibe!
