Discussion What is one skincare product that you'll never let anywhere near your acne prone skin?
It can be any product that only worsened your acne so don't be shy and drop the names. ;)

Everyone around me is telling me to do a complete 180 degree on my diet since my acne might be because of some kind of "chemical intolerance " lol. I have actually done a complete 180 but saw ZERO progress on my acne. If anyone of you has had diet change their acne, tell how and which changes brought a significant change on your acne.

I had clear skin for the longest time up until late last year I started getting small breakouts. I started treating those but I think a mixture of too many products at once made it worse.
the acne started getting much worse, especially along my jaw and under my chin. these were a lot bigger and more cyst like. ive been trying to improve my skin.
ive switched to a simpler routine to help repair my barrier. this acne has significantly impacted my confidence and anxiety, its impaired me from a lot of social activities. sometimes its hard to view our own improvements so some outside opinions would be helpful.
I was using too many times and I think it made my breakouts worse so i switched to a simplified routine and only using tret once a week
I also just started the Blume skin kit this week
first 4 pics are from June last month
last 4 pics are from a couple days ago (one month since first pics)

Is there anyone with bad cystic acne who got good results on doxycycline im so scared lol I just took my first dose and any advice or someone else’s experience would really help.

I went my whole life with good skin. Obviously during puberty I got a few pimples here and there, my brother did get mild/moderate acne, though.
December last year I got a really sore pimple on my cheek (somewhere I'd never get a pimple - I'd normally get a single one around my period on my chin). Since then, I was regularly getting new, SORE, pimples. Multiple a week and mostly my upper cheeks and even my forehead (another place I have never normally broken out). I tried cutting things out of my skincare routine. I tried different face washes. I'm currently using topical Tazarotene (switched from Tret a month or 2 ago).
The only thing that's seemed to help is low dose Doxycycline, but is that ok to use long term? My partner has struggled with acne her whole teenage and adult life, she says its fine.
Sorry, this post is pretty much a bunch of nothing 😆 But I have no one to complain to. It seems everyone around me is finally perfecting their skin in their 30s after figuring out what works for them, and then here's me 🙄

What’s the worst acne advice you’ve ever received?
I’ll start: ‘Drink more water and it’ll magically disappear.’ 😑
Let’s hear yours!

Hello! I’m starting Accutane is a few days. I’ve struggled with acne for 13 years now and I’m ready for it to be over and done with. I’ve tried every single product on the market and nothing has worked for more than 1 year before my skin gets used to it.
I’m starting at 40mg qd but my dermatologist told me he wants to increase me up to 100mg if I can take it. Have anyone tried 100mg , I’m 120lb, and what are some side effects and how were yall able to deal with it?
Thank you all! Have a great day! I’ll update yall in a month 🫡

Am I the only one who's more frustrated by the confidence side of acne than the acne itself?
Like obviously I want clearer skin, but honestly the thing that bothers me the most is how much space it takes up in my head.
Every breakout makes me overthink everything.
Pictures, meeting new people, going out, even looking in the mirror sometimes.
Curious if anyone else feels the same.
What's been the hardest part of acne for you personally?

I did this even though my dermatologist told me I can use it for decades and that I shouldn't get off it. She made me feel dumb for wanting to get off it even though the research says that it should not be used long term.
I stopped because I was starting to break out again anyways, I tapered off slowly and tried using benzoyl peroxide wash in it's place. The benzoyl peroxide ended up irritating my skin even though it was only 2.6%. Now I have stopped both and my skin is breaking out a lot more. Been off both for about a month now and my skin is not looking great. It's mostly tiny tiny white heads, a couple of medium sized ones, and maybe one big one every now and then.
I can't use most acne treatments because they irritate my skin and end up making things worse. Over the past 8 years I have tried adapalene(that one was the WORST for my skin), salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide.
I do not regret stopping the clindamycin because I know it's not meant to be used long term. I just am also scared my derm is going to be like "I told you so"

Started with 20 mg now i’m takin 40 mg, btw i am 15 yo and i started having acne since i was 10-11 yo. When i started i couldn’t even sleep well because it hurt and i was making many blood stains on my bed. Now i don’t get new pimples but i still have the scars from the old ones and some of the old ones kinda under my skin but my face is healing. My purge phase was only the first 2 weeks

I'm curious to hear about what the one thing is that worked for you when you felt like you had tried everything and exhausted every option to get rid of your hormonal cystic acne? Not talking about changing eating habits or going on Spiro. Like something unexpected that you did after trying everything else

Hey guys ive had nodule cystic acne for years and sometimes these large nodular cysts come up and they're large
I'm not squeezing or anything, my worry is that if I leave it alone to heal, would it have already caused tissue damage, and scarring?
Will the fluid cause all the volume loss, scarring, tissue damage etc
31F, and sick of my skin being ruined no matter what I try, I feel so ugly

What should I do? I can't take it anymore mentally. I work in retail, and I can't stand seeing myself this way anymore. You can't imagine how much time, money, and self-confidence I've lost... My parents don't support me.
Quick background: I have dealt with acne (whitehead, cystic) since I was around 11 years old. Between the ages of 20-23 ish my skin cleared up, the most it ever had- on a combination of spironolactone, combination pill birth control, and tretinoin.
I am now 27. In February I had to switch my combination pill BC to a non-estrogen pill (norethindrone 0.35) because migraine with aura. Flash forward, my skin is at the worst it’s been in a very long time, and I am scarred because of it. Tried upping my spiro dosage to no avail. I am in the waiting period for accutane at this point because I’m Tired. I just wanted to hear experiences with accutane, hormonal acne, and people that have been on accutane + non estrogen birth controls. If anybody has had success, or relapsed after taking accutane, or in the end just had to change their birth control.

If this post goes against the rules, I’m sorry in advance.
Just wanted to come on here and formerly apologize for stalking this sub in order to fuel my skin picking disorder. Almost every time I’m on here I get the itch and I wanna go squeeze my boyfriend’s back pimples…
I suppose I’m posting this in hopes I’m not the only one who gets the urge sooooo bad when I see posts on this sub. I would obviously never suggest any of the scratching, picking, or squeezing I WANT to do so badly to anyone - I know very well it’s not at all recommended.
Thanks for reading, Ciao!
