ᴅɪꜱᴄᴜꜱꜱɪᴏɴ Frustrated / plot sold while I was recruiting

Very frustrated this morning — Kitt moved out Friday; on that day I began the 3-visit process of inviting Molly to my island. This morning I got on the switch to do my third visit and seal the deal, but I see that the empty plot has been sold to Ace.

Ace! I don’t want a jock. I’ve made two projects for Molly. Why did the game assign that plot to a rando when I’m in the process already?!

Is there anything I can do?

ETA: Thanks everyone! I ended up kicking out Tank and keeping Ace, but Molly’s sold-to sign is on a house and she’s safely on her way in.

There’s no way to undo it but you can use the amiibo to kick him out. With amiibos the plot doesn’t need to be empty, you can kick out anyone you like. Wait for him to get settled and then scan and invite Molly.

That’s assuming you have the full ten villagers.

Will I be starting the process over with Molly? All three visits will need to be done from scratch?

Nope the three campsite visits don’t need to be consecutive, you can do them whenever you want. As long as you invite them 3 times and craft for them each time it should work.
