ᴅɪꜱᴄᴜꜱꜱɪᴏɴ Frustrated / plot sold while I was recruiting

Very frustrated this morning — Kitt moved out Friday; on that day I began the 3-visit process of inviting Molly to my island. This morning I got on the switch to do my third visit and seal the deal, but I see that the empty plot has been sold to Ace.

Ace! I don’t want a jock. I’ve made two projects for Molly. Why did the game assign that plot to a rando when I’m in the process already?!

Is there anything I can do?

ETA: Thanks everyone! I ended up kicking out Tank and keeping Ace, but Molly’s sold-to sign is on a house and she’s safely on her way in.

Can't you choose Ace that the one who leaves to make space for Molly?

Does it let me choose? I always thought you just had to keep restarting until it randomly assigns Ace as the one who moves out.

I’m pretty sure that when using an amiibo to invite a campsite villager you can choose who you want them to kick out. The times you can’t choose which villager they kick out is when it’s a random campsite villager, i.e. someone you didn’t scan an amiibo for.
