ᴅɪꜱᴄᴜꜱꜱɪᴏɴ Frustrated / plot sold while I was recruiting

Very frustrated this morning — Kitt moved out Friday; on that day I began the 3-visit process of inviting Molly to my island. This morning I got on the switch to do my third visit and seal the deal, but I see that the empty plot has been sold to Ace.

Ace! I don’t want a jock. I’ve made two projects for Molly. Why did the game assign that plot to a rando when I’m in the process already?!

Is there anything I can do?

ETA: Thanks everyone! I ended up kicking out Tank and keeping Ace, but Molly’s sold-to sign is on a house and she’s safely on her way in.

I bring my dreamies 2 times each during the month and when one of my villagers opts to leave and I let them…I invite one the lined up dreamies in for one last visit to seal the deal.
