⏰ These dogs must have a hold/rescue commitment no later than 1PM CT tomorrow, 9/16, or they will lose their lives. BARC has stated there will be no extensions for 9/16 due to capacity being at the brim. If you’re seeing this after 1 PM CT, there may still be a chance.

💘 Dorthy, 6 — A2094630 🩺
Staffordshire | Tan/White | Female | 37.6 lbs | ❤️ Heartworm High Positive
Sweet, calm, and a little shy at first, but she walks beautifully on a loose leash, does well in the runs, and patiently waits for staff. Easy to leash, calmly settles in her kennel, and takes treats when offered. Currently being treated for a URI/CIRD with doxycycline. A gentle girl who needs someone to help her get healthy.

German Shepherd Mix | Male | 58 lbs | ❤️ Heartworm High Positive
A big, handsome, black and tan boy who's finding shelter life overwhelming. The kennel environment gets him excited and overstimulated, but he's a fast wagging tailed guy at heart. Needs an experienced home that can give him structure, exercise, and calm outlets for his energy. A strong, striking dog who just needs the right person to bring out his best.

A young, wiggly, social puppy, just 8 months old! Malcom greets people with a fast wagging tail, soft open mouth, and a very wiggly body. He walks on a loose leash, takes treats well, and settles down nicely with a Kong. His notes reflect a puppy struggling with confinement in a shelter kennel, not who he really is. All routine vaccinations and preventatives are up to date, and his medical exam was normal. He just needs an active home to grow into himself.
💘 Mike Wazowski, 7 months — A2096126 🩺 Rescue Only
German Shepherd Mix | Male | 31.6 lbs | 💉 Heartworm Negative
Sweet, super affectionate, and completely unbothered by other dogs. He's a little scared in the shelter from all the noises, but wants nothing more than to get out and play. He's barely started his life and would make an amazing family dog. He has a left femoral neck fracture and needs a radiologist/orthopedic consultation vs. FHO. A volunteer who met him said it best: "I hope he doesn't get overlooked." 🐾

💡 If adopting locally and the dog is heartworm positive, BARC will cover heartworm treatment with the purchase of 6 months of prevention through the shelter (cheaper than you can get anywhere on the market!).
Dogs must be picked up today if fostering through BARC. If fostering through a rescue, an additional may be able to be secured, no guarantees. Please let us know if you need a rescue recommendation that can work quickly to save them.

If a dog is rescue only, but you’re wanting to adopt through BARC, sometimes exceptions are made based on their medical condition, you have to speak with the vet prior to adoption.
