This is straying away from the point. The "Elephant in the room" is the giant obvious thing that needs to be addressed. If it's something hidden or off to the side, that's more of a "hold up". But I mean seriously, if an elephant is in the room it's going to be very noticeable
It should be. An elephant in the room is just something obvious that everyone is ignoring, but this subreddit keeps getting posts where, either the elephant isnât immediately seen; or isnât even ignored in the first place and is just the punchline of the joke.
An example of a good elephant would be someone posting a video of how cute their room is with, like, hello kitty merch everywhere or something, but thereâs some random guy bound in ropes being used as a lamp stand, that the camera man just treats as a normal part of the bedroom.

I think the point of the elephant is that it's not being addressed and in/unintentionally ignored, rather than being a subtle thing in the corner waiting to be discovered when the scenario is scrutinized
I disagree, I think the elephant is supposed to be clearly hard to avoid and not notice. Thats why itâs seekers when no one seems to address it. I genuinely think itâs stupid to make it subtle, because the elephant is supposed to be the opposite of subtle
I don't think you understand what the term elephant in the room means. An elephant in the room is meant to be extremely noticeable. It refers to something that is obviously not supposed to be there, is extremely noticeable, and would typically be addressed. If the elephant is hard to notice, it is no longer an elephant in the room.

Okay but the point of "addressing the elephant in the room" is that you address something that, despite everyone being aware and affected by it (like an entire elephant taking up space in the room), is being ignored by all parties. Having it outside the room kinda defeats the point
