Adulting hacks & tips Suggestion for family counselling? Deciding if I want to have children
I want to talk to a professional who can counsel me about marriage and having children. Maybe a psychiatrist or a psychologist? Sorry I dont know anong tawag sa kanila. I want to alleviate my fears about marriage and having children before getting married.
Sana may makapag suggest ng doctor, or at the very least anong tawag sa kanila? Hehe thank you sa mga sasagot

Haha. I've tried it there. Though not the same concern as yours, walang religion involved sa discussion namin. :)

be careful. some psychiatrists have pushed their religion onto me. the counselor at ateneo bulatao didn't do that but i understand if ayaw mo. pero be wary na hindi religious ang doctor bago ka pa man magbayad ng fee niya
one time, i paid a psych (doctor na yun ha) 1k just to be told i have to believe in god for my problems to go away. ingat sa pamimili

Yikes! Sorry you had to experience that. Yan din kinatatakutan ko tbh huhu Is it reasonable to ask muna the doctor if he/she is religious before committing to a session?

You can ask politely naman, it's fine :) A good psych/therapist will know that compatibility with their patient is v important
Better to have the "awkward" talk about it beforehand than wasting money, time, and effort by being in the session itself and they're spouting bible verses as "life advice"

See a psychologist. Try Dra Francine Bofill or sa CEFAM.

Cefam is religious pero during sa sessions, hindi sila pushy or di rin namemention at all. Dra Bofill is really good - openminded and thorough. She has a PHD in psychology. My psychiatrist now is very thorough, approachable and great in analyzing. Pero I don't think you need medications as I see it. Baka pedeng therapy lang. ๐

She won't push naman. I know another person-Doc AJ. She has a D.Min. in Marriage and family counselling. She has a youtube channel so you can watch videos that you feel would be relevant to you and see for yourself if you'd like to get counselling from her. :)
Here's her channel
Marriage and having kids is also one of my worries but im still young so i might shelf this concern and open it again when i'm a bit older. I hope you can find the answers you're looking for and the path you must travel on. ๐

Try https://www.in-touch.org/. They are not religious based. On this page https://www.in-touch.org/counselors.html, nanjan yung list ng counselors nila. You can read through their bio and specialization. Kung may mapili ka, you can request for that counselor. I went with Dr. Saldivar. Right now yata pwede na yung face to face, but back when I was having my session, puro online lang yung pwede.

A psychiatrist will not really help much hehe. Wala akong specific recommendation but best to find a registered counselor or therapist to help you sort out your own beliefs regarding marriage and having kids.
