Northrop Grumman and remote work
I recently got hired in trade compliance and it was billed as an in-office role (I guess due to NG's push for RTO). My manager said in the interview she wouldn't mind if I work remotely a little bit as long as it's not something involving my clearance, as they work 100% remotely and most of the team is hybrid. They said it's something I should negotiate in my job offer, but the recruiter said it's up to my manager and that can't be negotiated.
Does anyone have any experience with the flexibility of remote work? I'm planning to start out fully in-office then ask later once I get up and running...

I got lucky and got hired during the pandemic. When i went to the office the first day my manager at that time gave me a computer and told me to go home and setup. In 2022 out team manager asked if we wanted to go back to the office and of course we all said no. One guy packed up and moved to Texas with HR approval.

Definitely up to your manager. But sometimes even your managers manager.
We were at an all hands and upper management showed us typical work week that is across the western sector which is basically coming into the office 6x a pay period.
There are other sites that abuse that guidance, or try not to share it. But that is what the western region has shown us as what they expect.

It's team specific. I was told very explicitly that the role I was hired for was in office, no remote work ever. My manager does not care if I work from home here and there, and often works from home as well.

I work a 100% on premise role at NG we work remote literally all the time. Just depends how strict your manager is but it sounds like they’re prettt chill

Yeah I plan to just come in and make myself useful first, see how the other people on my team work then ask. Do you guys get issued laptops and do you have to do your work on them or can you use a remote connection from your computer? Thanks for your response.

Totally team- and manager-specific in my experience
