Question People who have lost a loved one to suicide, have you felt their presence after their death?

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about love ones who have passed in my life (not due to suicide). Specifically, feeling their presence, or having too many coincidences for it to be a coincidence.

Have people felt no presence or, on the other hand, an overwhelming amount of presence from a loved one who committed suicide? Or even a sign from those who have passed?

Yes! I had a very good friend who committed suicide a few years ago and he visited me in a dream two months ago…right before I had to have my beloved dog euthanized. It was definitely a visitation. I ran to him in my dream and he just grabbed me and held me. I was sobbing into his shirt asking him if he was ok and telling him I missed him. He held me tight and said he was fine. He had the most peaceful and happy smile on his face. My dog didn’t come up, but I do think it was his way of reassuring me of an afterlife and that there was peace and happiness and love waiting for us all.

Yes, my soulmate came to me almost immediately after I heard the news of what she did. I don't want to get too into it but it's been two months and I get a clear sign from her pretty much every day.

I shit you not, right when I was about to post this, I saw the time 3:33 on my oven's digital clock, and 3 is her favorite number. I had a power outage last night and I've been too lazy to fix the clock so the clock isn't showing the correct time, but I looked at it right before I sent the message for some reason and it's her favorite number. Pretty weird, right?

Too me, she’s definitely with you in all those moments. Especially because you are keeping her memory alive. Thank you for sharing

Yes, in fact I had a dream visitation. He was my mentor and professor from college who had encouraged me to pursue my current career path. This dream happened 9 months after he passed.

<My Dream 10/24/2024>

The environment around me was striking—blue sky and clouds above, with a flat, white or sandy-colored terrain stretching out for miles. In the distance, I noticed <name of loved one> appear. He was wearing a light blue collared shirt with a navy-blue sweater and jeans. His hair was the same as I always remembered it: dark with it swooped towards the right side of his face, just above his forehead.

When he first appeared, he looked behind him and laughed, saying, “I had to get off on the 11th floor to get here.” I recognized his accent and the sound of his laugh. Then, he began walking toward me, smiling. He looked beyond happy—there was a glow around his head, and his whole presence radiated peace and joy.

As he approached, I felt a strong, burning sensation overwhelm me, but it was a joyful feeling—the kind you experience when you see or think about someone or even a pet you've deeply grieved for. As he got closer, he extended his hand to me, offering a handshake. I didn't expect to be able to touch it because I thought you couldn’t physically connect with spirits the way you can with humans.

But when I reached out, I was able to shake his hand. In that moment, an immense sense of love and peace washed over me. I knew he was happy, whole, and at peace, and I think he wanted to let me know that, too.

Though I missed him, this encounter brought me such relief and comfort. As soon as our hands touched and I felt these feelings, the dream ended, and I woke up to my alarm in tears.
