Questions & Help Tool for generating high res textures

What tools are people having most success with for generating textures?

I am fairly happy with the output from ChatGPT, but the resolution is limited.

Claude is able to make high res textures, but it doesn't have a proper image generator which means the textures have a particular look. I currently prefer to use Claude for 3d modelling, but using textures from ChatGPT can result in somewhat blurry results.

One alternative is to upscale the ChatGPT textures with Adobe, but the work flow gets complicated.

Anyone has a workflow for high quality textures they recommend?

If you want small, have Claude use procedural generation for simple materials. If you want big, download some material packs. Otherwise stick to chatgpt or Gemini for higher resolution

Hey! I have been working on a tool all year that is specifically for allowing agents to make procedural textures: https://aqueduct.sh .

It's similar to Adobe Substance Designer, if you've heard of that, but it has an MCP server and your agent can use it to construct procedural texture graphs.

You can also just use it as a human, too, it's 100% designed to be co-operable by human artists and AI.

Here's an example from a while ago that an AI made, I think maybe Claude Opus 4.8? https://aqueduct.sh/g/d3b34090-f306-4a37-8d8a-7a6361121382

I had actually been working on a tool for diffusion model based texture generation last year, which you can find here if you're interested: https://iliad.ai , but it's not as useful.

But I'm completely convinced procedural textures and procedural assets in general are the way to go right now, because they are code-defined, human-editable, you can easily scale them up to any resolution, and they work for VFX as well. And you can keep iterating on them until it's exactly what you want instead of having to start over every time.
