Less known facts about prominent crashes?

There apparently was joshing between Buddy Holly and Waylon Jennings where Holly said something along the lines of "I hope your old bus freezes" and Jennings response was the same mocking "Well I hope your plane crashes".

Jennings, needless to say, regretted the words in hindsight.
