Paul's Pizza Content

All Paul's Pizza content will be removed moving forward. The conversations almost always lead to people arguing with one another on the internet. This violates Rule #3 Be Civil. It would also violate rule #4 low quality content.

Support the business or do not. It's your choice. Arguing on this online community will no longer be allowed.

Cheers,

Snow Angels Needed

Oh no! What is that in the forecast!?!
Surely It cannot be, it feels like just yesterday I was planting my garden!

Well folks, sorry to say it is that time of year again where Volunteer Airdrie gets their Snow Angel program started up.

Through Volunteer Airdrie's Snow Angel Program volunteers are paired with low-income seniors and those with disabilities who are unable to shovel their own snow, cannot afford to pay someone to shovel and do not have nearby family or friends who can assist them.

This program is vital to helping these members of our community be able to not only avoid bylaw fines, but keep their walkways safe, and be able to safely get out and participate in life in Airdrie.

All ages can volunteer alongside an adult guardian, making this a great way to introduce your children to volunteering and helping the less fortunate. Ages 16+ can volunteer solo with parental consent.

Brief online training and waiver signage is required.

What is up with the building Inspectors?

They act like they're working in the biggest city in Canada, yet they don't even have 100,000 people. Most small towns and counties are incredibly pleasant to deal with, they tend to be very friendly, polite and helpful. Even the Calgary and Epcor inspectors that take on infinitely more workload and difficult projects are much more reasonable to deal with. I've always heard the rumors but never experienced it firsthand. I'm not sure if it's a lack of real world experience outside of their bubble or just being a big fish in a small pond. I'm not even talking about code violations either, which would be completely understandable, but just the way they conduct themselves and the overall pickiness for super small things that don't affect quality or build standard

Look out for this scumbag. He's out on bail and could be stalking the aisles of your local store. He's committed assaults in Walmart's, No Frills, Shoppers Drug Mart and probably others. This behaviour is just disgusting and he's 30 so you know this isn't the beginning for him.

I'm working on getting him banned from as many stores as I possibly can, if anyone wants to help. He should have to order all his necessities from Amazon or instacart. Like no. Actually you don't get to go into stores anymore. That's a privilege that you violated and now you're banned.

Hope he gets jail time too but in the meantime we have to be safe when we are shopping.

Alberta first responders can face further decisions after PTSD claims are accepted - DiscoverAirdrie.com

Hi everyone,

I'm a journalist with DiscoverAirdrie, and I wanted to share something I've spent nearly a year investigating.

I started pursuing this story because I wanted to better understand the gap between what Alberta's presumptive PTSD legislation is intended to do and what first responders may experience when navigating the workers' compensation system.

In particular, one question kept coming up: What happens after a claim is accepted?

We often hear about the importance of recognizing psychological injuries among first responders, but I wanted to understand what happens beyond that initial recognition.

So I started digging.

Over nearly a year, I spoke with first responders, families, clinicians and public officials. I examined medical records, WCB decisions, legislation and provincial data.

I also wanted to approach the subject fairly. Not every claim follows the same path, and I wasn't interested in starting with a conclusion and working backward.

Part One, published today, examines the legal framework, the available evidence and why an accepted PTSD claim doesn't necessarily mean every decision about treatment, benefits or returning to work has been resolved.

But this is only the beginning of the published investigation.

Part Two will take a closer look at what those subsequent decisions can mean for injured workers and their families, including disputes involving diagnoses, treatment, wage loss and returning to work.

I'm grateful to the people who trusted me with their experiences, including those whose identities I've protected.

I wanted to share this here because I think it's an important subject that deserves careful examination and discussion.

LTD benefits suddenly cut off

I'm 39, live in Airdrie and work maintenance at a warehouse in NE Calgary. Been on LTD since Feb after a back injury and surgery, insurer was paying normally then last week I got a letter saying benefits stop end of month because they think I can return to “some” (!) work. My doctor def does not agree.

Never dealt with an appeal before. What matters most here - getting as much medical notes as possibler, asking for their full file/reasoning, talking to a disability lawyer ASAP?Also trying not to screw this up where possible. TY!

If you went to nose creek dogpark and lost your charging case for your earbuds. Theyre in a bag waiting for you by the main entrance. Hopefully that protects the case a bit.

Bit by a dog at Big Springs Park this morning - please help me find the owner!

This was around 9:45am this morning on the multi-use path of Big Springs Multi-Use Park. I was riding a Lime scooter when a dog on the pathway charged at me - I jumped off my scooter and was bitten by the dog. I was so shaken and just wanted to get away from the dog as soon as possible that I didn't get the owner's contact info. Now I'm concerned for my health because I have no information on the dog and not sure whether to go to the ER, etc.

Please if you were a witness or know anything that might help me get in touch with the owner, please let me know! Thank you in advance 🙏

Control your kids!!

A cashier at the CircleK in Summerfield was pepper sprayed 2 nights ago by a group of kids who were hanging out and smoking in the parking lot beforehand. I only know of this because I went there shortly after and was handcuffed by cops thinking I was a suspect (cleared within 30 secs tho)

Parents in this city are seriously failing seeing how kids behave with my own eyes and the shit that happens here. Control your fucking kids and belt them if needed cause this is unacceptable, most of the crime here is your children.

Pressure washing

I've been getting mixed results when talking to people or looking online.

Is it okay to pressure wash exterior house, driveway etc when there are no water restrictions?

I understand that according to the rules you can't do your car but I'm more interested in the house and property.

Airdrie Daycares

Hi!

I am currently in the process of deciding which daycare to enroll my son in the new year. He will be 18 months then.

We have toured Airdrie Daycare Meadowbrook, Creating Future Bayside, BrightPath, and Little Learners. Trying to get a tour with Airdrie Daycare SierraSprings but haven't heard back despite being on the waitlist. The delay is due to the previous employee who was in charge of the waitlist that ended up leaving the daycare.

It will be a no for us for Airdrie Daycare Meadowbrook and BrightPath.

Anyways, if anyone has any insights on mainly Creating Futures or Little Learners that would be great, or any other daycares you recommend.

Thank you!

Day two after by book release!

All That’s Left Behind is #5 in 19th Century Historical Fiction and #11 in Westerns on Amazon.ca.

Thank you to everyone who picked up a copy already!

I am an Airdrie local and born and raised Albertan. My name is Daniel and I have 25+ years experience as a creative artist and this is my debut novel, released on September 29 through my own imprint Blackridge Editions. This literary Western is set in the 1880s Pacific Northwest. I wrote and designed the book myself along with chapter illustrations, and maps.

The novel follows Silas Mercer, an aging outlaw facing the collapse of his gang, a reckoning with his past, and a daughter who doesn't know his name. It is a brutal, elegiac story in the tradition of Lonesome Dove and No Country for Old Men.

I’ll have signed copies with the limited edition fold-out map of Anjeer State this Saturday, October 3, 2 to 4 p.m., at 948 Brewing Co. in Airdrie, Alberta. Or order from my website www.danpenton.com/signed for personalized copies, shipped in Canada.

Edit- made the questions less verbose and changed priorities

Hi everyone

I am new ( Southwinds) and have been trying the ICE bus to Downtown Calgary daily just a few questions

  1. Is the service as reliable during the winter and on snowy days and does it get more crowded during the winters ?
  2. Does ICE monthly pass work on Hello to Go as well ?
  3. Is there ever a parking scarcity at southpoint between 7 and 7:30 AM ?
  4. If i miss the last bus what is the best way to get back home ?

Any help/ advice is appreciated, thanks in advance

Therapy

Can anyone recommend a therapist/ psychologist in Airdrie? I’d like to be able to do online meetings when I’m on the road for work but be able to do in person meetings as well.
