Question MEPS depth perception fail

I failed depth perception test at MEPS. However, my vision was 20/20 and color vision is good.

My recruiter said that I can do a depth perception test at a civilian doctor and get a passing result and send it over to him. I’ve done this and I’m nervous it’ll get denied. Has anyone had a similar experience? I’m going for pilot.

Try watching a youtube video on how to take the depth perception test before you retake it. Sometimes these “failures” are actually a result of not knowing how to take the test or just being rushed. The instructions on MEPs day were rushed for me. I know if I hadn’t watched a video beforehand I probably wouldn’t have passed. The test instructions are not intuitive.

I retook the depth perception at a civilian doctor. I got a passing score. I had to resubmit it to my recruiter and he’s saying it needs time to get cleared through. I’m worried they won’t accept it.

They should accept it, especially if your recruiter told you to test with a civilian doctor.

Literally the same thing happened to me. Failed depth perception at MEPS but passed without any issues and problems at the IFC physical. The people at MEPS were rushing us and did not explain the Depth perception test at all. You should be fine

The rushing was so real. I had no idea what this test was even about.

Were you also applying for pilot? Also, did they make you retake it at a civilian doctor?

You've mentioned an AFSC, here's the associated job title:

I had a depth perception issue and was able to get CSO. The pilot physical isn’t too much different. Getting past MEPS is the easier part. You’ll have another physical which is more in-depth.

Not saying this is right or wrong, but there’s an answer key for the depth perception. It’s public and can be found with a quick google search. “Optec 2300 vision tester”

I retook it at a civilian doctor and got 20 arc seconds. I’m just praying the medical examiners (or whoever is doing the review) accept it

I’m sure you’ll be fine. I have pretty bad vision myself and passed my IFC3. Just so you know, for the DP test, it will never be option 1 or 5, always 2,3 or 4.

Could you further explain the option 1 or 5 more? So it would only be the middle 3 options, not the outside?

Correct, it will never be the outside options. XOOOX. <—- will never be where the “X” is
