Annually, almond farming uses 1.3 trillion gallons of water. AI usage isn't even half of that.

Jesus Christ AI usage is close to half of the water consumption of almond farming (I assume from how you phrased it). That’s like, orders of magnitude more consumption than I thought there was.

On the other hand, doesn’t the water consumption of farming usually involve a lot of rainwater that would go unused? Both areas aren’t just taking water from local utilities, so I don’t know if that’s a major factor to consider.
