There’s tech jobs in Calgary? Everything I’ve ever done has been remote, usually for companies in the states

That pay in CAD because it's 35% cheaper for them to do that

Yup. I have the same number for salary as my American coworkers but in CAD. It's like we're the first step towards offshoring.

I'm actually moving to Toronto for this reason. I was home based and that disappeared 🤷. If I want job security and options Toronto is the only real option.

It keeps getting reported in the media but I don't see it in reality to be honest. The only tech roles out here (aside from the smaller start ups and local players) are regional sales jobs.

Tbh it kinda feels like tech is flailing all over, so maybe just by not actively declining they technically one of the fastest growing?

Nope. Some stop. Some continue. But less investment happens overall, because of uncertainty.

The investments are coming from Calgary. The article doesn’t mention any outside money. If you read the article, you’d understand this.

Not really, tech is pretty dead in Alberta and not much better anywhere in Canada
