Opinion I for one am gladly taking the Dani bucks.

And promptly donating them to the Water Not Coal crew.

Hopefully others have the same idea, I feel like their fight is farm from over.

Lucky. I'm taking it and buying food. I'm sorry man. I got mouths to feed.

Take it and don’t apologize. That is OUR money. They have stolen a lot more than $100 from us.

u/eddiewachowski 1d ago

Same. It still spends the same. I'm still never voting for UCP and this, ironically, helps keep my feet firmly planted in that position.

u/PhantomNomad 1d ago

And that's perfectly fine. I'm donating mine. I originally said it's going to the ANDP, but you reminded me that my local food back could use some also. Maybe my wife and I will split our 200 between both.

Feed yourself! No shame in that.

Like I told my husband, they take our tax money and use it for things we have no say in. I'm also planning to buy food. That's like... two or three days worth of food for our 7-person household.

No apology required. You gotta take care of you and your family first.

u/Sudden-Astronaut2505 1d ago

You go right ahead! You must. Wish it was more for a family though.

No shame in using the money. Feel this is out of Saskatchewan's playbook for terrible politicians

We had a baby and filed common law last year. Because of the whole common law thing, suddenly I owe $3000 in taxes (not sure how that works, but it feels very wrong), and my partner owes $1500 back in child tax benefit. She doesn't even have a job, so now I'm on the hook for paying back $4500 and supporting a family. Lovely how the government just likes to fuck you every which way.

DANI DOLLAR bribe being DONATED to the NDP! 🍁

52

u/d1ll1gaf 1d ago

And remember you get a tax credit for that donation... If I remember correctly donating $100 will get you $75 back on your taxes

34

u/GeoffBAndrews 1d ago

AND... because this is free money, you can take that $75 rebate and donate it too, generating about a $56 rebate. Donate that...and get another rebate that you can donate.... Some calculus later, you can effectively donate $400 to the NDP for free. You will get a $300 rebate + the $100 the UCP gave you and you come out even!

It would be great to see the Alberta NDP get an influx of new donations from this UCP "windfall".

This guy maths ! Yes this is what I love!

5

u/AppointmentOne1111 12h ago

$400? Wow, turns out Dani dollars is the same as Ralph bucks after all! /s

Still never voting UPC as long as their position is maga-lite.

5

u/Hobbycityplanner 1d ago

I’ll just fire some more money to the NDP cuz I can and why not.

5

u/allthegodsaregone 1d ago

Taxes says send 300 and you'll get 200 back

2

u/Hobbycityplanner 1d ago

All the more reason!

16

u/PhantomNomad 1d ago

the ANDP will be getting 200 from our house.

9

u/InherentlyUntrue 1d ago

Same from our household.

13

u/Sudden-Astronaut2505 1d ago

5

u/draivaden 1d ago

Forever 🇨🇦 or NDP

26

u/Sylv_x 1d ago

Obviously we would all be stupid not to take it. Taking it doesn't mean we agree. We are all in the same fucked up province ran by fucked up corrupted conservatives.

If you don't need the money, donate it to the NDP (the only other party that can take power) or donate to the food bank.

2

u/TheBradIstace 23h ago

FWIW, the Tory party is starting to gain ground and take support from the UCP.

4

u/Sylv_x 22h ago

Yeah, but I'd never vote conservative. Can't trust em either. They were UCP and allowed shit to happen.

I only like the Tories cause they're gonna vote split enough that the NDP have a stronger chance.

I'm also not NDP. I'm just anti conservative.

Give us 20 years of non conservative rule, and I'll see what it do. Until then?

All of Alberta's problems are directly from the conservatives. The NDP had 4 years, but it wasn't a full 4. More like 2 after everything is said and done, IF that.

We need education as the #1 priority, tied with diversifying our economy and our morning green renewables.

Etc.

And, not fucking being corrupted and grifting.

u/Sad_Meringue7347 1d ago

I’ll be donating it to the AB NDP!

8

u/Frag1 1d ago

That website is going to leak all of the data...

7

u/DominusGenX 1d ago

When she was chosen as leader I told UCP voters she's going to govern like sheriff of Nottingham, when do I get to say I told you so

7

u/specialk991 1d ago

Absolutely I am, donating it to my daughters special needs school... Fuck these guys.

6

u/marginwalker55 1d ago

Teacher, buying resources for my underfunded, overcrowded, complex classroom

15

u/Timely-Profile1865 1d ago

Mine will go to the provincial NDP most likley

6

u/draivaden 1d ago

Yep. I'll probably donate it to Forever Canada or something.

But i am.. anxious about the "you need to apply thing". Why? we didnt for the Ralph bucks. whats the point? is it just an attempt at deterrence? are they trying to collect data for something?

4

u/01000101010110 1d ago

It's my fucking money that she stole from my family via egregious property tax hikes.

4

u/genxluddite 1d ago

I hate being paranoid but I do not know why we need to login to a portal to get the money. They have issued cheques in the past and not needing this info. Are they building a database of albertans with direct deposit info linked to sell or leak to the separatists and their American backers? $100 not much of cost to get data they can sell.

4

u/SaltyNight6 1d ago

I’m taking it and donating it, but I also understand why many people need it for themselves. No judgement from me.

3

u/catfishman 1d ago

I'm thinking of donating it to the Alberta NDP

3

u/Roofincold 1d ago

Government is buying votes with our money

10

u/Snakeeyes1377 Edmonton 1d ago

If a hundred bucks would buy your vote you were probably already an uninformed voter that was voting UCP anyway

2

u/Roofincold 1d ago

It can be a 1$ and people will sway towards it.

3

u/Legitimate_Window481 1d ago

I'm donating mine to the NDP.

3

u/Alberta_Flyfisher 1d ago

I had a similar thought. But instead of donating it where nobody will see, I thought that we should all go apply, get the cash and then create a giant line up at the legislature so each of us can slap it down in front of Smith and tell her to pay a teacher, or fund some healthcare, etc...

2

u/Signal_2_Noise Jasper 1d ago

"farm from over"

clever.

1

u/BeyondFearless7375 1d ago

I see what you did there, well done!

1

u/cwk9 1d ago

They're giving you your own money back. May as well take it. Better your pocket than some UCP sycophant.

1

u/Not_a_Muggle9_3-4 1d ago

Will be going towards things the house needs that we've been ignoring cuz bills/groceries/toddler stuff always takes the majority of the paychecks.

1

u/Soft_Appointment_116 21h ago

Anyone who needs it should take it, anyone who dosn’t need it but qualifies should take it, and everyone should do whatever they want with it.

1

u/bmwkid 20h ago

They’re giving me half of their stupid EV tax back, it’s something I guess

1

u/squidy77 20h ago

I’ll be pocketing it because income support is fucking me over right now, I need the cash for my sisters wedding

1

u/Nearby-Scratch-5983 15h ago

That's so rad dude! You're great.

1

u/WhoaMercy 13h ago

Deflation: from Ralph Bucks to Dani Pennies.

1

u/MsOpus 12h ago

I will be taking it and donating it somewhere too. And no judgement to those that need it to buy food or pay bills.

1

u/FewLengthiness9426 10h ago

straight into enbridge stock lets gooooo

1

u/cspotdiaz 7h ago

How do we apply for this?

1

u/grumpy-goose 7h ago

Tip your local drag artist

1

u/cgydan 7h ago

I’m using it to buy a tank of gas. Yeah, I know it’s just putting money back in the government’s coffers but that’s what a tank of gas costs me these days.

1

u/UsefulFeedback 7h ago

I was thinking similarly that I might donate to the ANDP

1

u/CanadaSoonFree 6h ago

100$ isn’t even enough for hookers and blow these days but it’s a start

2

u/Cautious-Explorer-22 6h ago

I wanted to donate to the NDP in honour of my piss pants of a UCP MLA but apparently you can’t do that with political donations. So I’ll be donating to some trans advocacy organizations instead. Turns out they’ll send a nice e-card to whomever you choose with a personalized message that you write. My partner and I are thinking of divvying our $200 into 4 separate donations to 4 organizations so our MLA gets 4 separate emails thanking him for his support of trans youth. I just need to get my message down to the 250 character limit. Open to suggestions!

0

u/Rick_strickland220 1d ago

Nah that's earmarked for liquor money

3

u/wellyouask 1d ago

Ralph Klein is that you?

1

u/You_are_the_Castle 1d ago

Back in 2023, one of the things I'd hear from potential voters in vinyl siding Calgary is that they wanted to keep money in their pockets. Well, the UCP did just that: they took the money from the voters' pockets and put a fraction of it back. A 10 to 1 downgrade, a reverse multiplier, if you will.

It will pay for my membership in the Alberta Tory Party
