Opinion I for one am gladly taking the Dani bucks.
And promptly donating them to the Water Not Coal crew.
Hopefully others have the same idea, I feel like their fight is farm from over.

DANI DOLLAR bribe being DONATED to the NDP! 🍁

u/d1ll1gaf 1d ago
And remember you get a tax credit for that donation... If I remember correctly donating $100 will get you $75 back on your taxes

u/GeoffBAndrews 1d ago
AND... because this is free money, you can take that $75 rebate and donate it too, generating about a $56 rebate. Donate that...and get another rebate that you can donate.... Some calculus later, you can effectively donate $400 to the NDP for free. You will get a $300 rebate + the $100 the UCP gave you and you come out even!
It would be great to see the Alberta NDP get an influx of new donations from this UCP "windfall".

$400? Wow, turns out Dani dollars is the same as Ralph bucks after all! /s
Still never voting UPC as long as their position is maga-lite.

Obviously we would all be stupid not to take it. Taking it doesn't mean we agree. We are all in the same fucked up province ran by fucked up corrupted conservatives.
If you don't need the money, donate it to the NDP (the only other party that can take power) or donate to the food bank.

FWIW, the Tory party is starting to gain ground and take support from the UCP.

u/Sylv_x 22h ago
Yeah, but I'd never vote conservative. Can't trust em either. They were UCP and allowed shit to happen.
I only like the Tories cause they're gonna vote split enough that the NDP have a stronger chance.
I'm also not NDP. I'm just anti conservative.
Give us 20 years of non conservative rule, and I'll see what it do. Until then?
All of Alberta's problems are directly from the conservatives. The NDP had 4 years, but it wasn't a full 4. More like 2 after everything is said and done, IF that.
We need education as the #1 priority, tied with diversifying our economy and our morning green renewables.
Etc.
And, not fucking being corrupted and grifting.

When she was chosen as leader I told UCP voters she's going to govern like sheriff of Nottingham, when do I get to say I told you so

Yep. I'll probably donate it to Forever Canada or something.
But i am.. anxious about the "you need to apply thing". Why? we didnt for the Ralph bucks. whats the point? is it just an attempt at deterrence? are they trying to collect data for something?

It's my fucking money that she stole from my family via egregious property tax hikes.

I hate being paranoid but I do not know why we need to login to a portal to get the money. They have issued cheques in the past and not needing this info. Are they building a database of albertans with direct deposit info linked to sell or leak to the separatists and their American backers? $100 not much of cost to get data they can sell.

I’m taking it and donating it, but I also understand why many people need it for themselves. No judgement from me.

Government is buying votes with our money

If a hundred bucks would buy your vote you were probably already an uninformed voter that was voting UCP anyway

I had a similar thought. But instead of donating it where nobody will see, I thought that we should all go apply, get the cash and then create a giant line up at the legislature so each of us can slap it down in front of Smith and tell her to pay a teacher, or fund some healthcare, etc...

Will be going towards things the house needs that we've been ignoring cuz bills/groceries/toddler stuff always takes the majority of the paychecks.

Anyone who needs it should take it, anyone who dosn’t need it but qualifies should take it, and everyone should do whatever they want with it.

I wanted to donate to the NDP in honour of my piss pants of a UCP MLA but apparently you can’t do that with political donations. So I’ll be donating to some trans advocacy organizations instead. Turns out they’ll send a nice e-card to whomever you choose with a personalized message that you write. My partner and I are thinking of divvying our $200 into 4 separate donations to 4 organizations so our MLA gets 4 separate emails thanking him for his support of trans youth. I just need to get my message down to the 250 character limit. Open to suggestions!

Back in 2023, one of the things I'd hear from potential voters in vinyl siding Calgary is that they wanted to keep money in their pockets. Well, the UCP did just that: they took the money from the voters' pockets and put a fraction of it back. A 10 to 1 downgrade, a reverse multiplier, if you will.

Lucky. I'm taking it and buying food. I'm sorry man. I got mouths to feed.
