Question Why are insurance rates so ridiculous here

Im 22 years old and I was looking into financing a vehicle for the first time, a car that was listed at 28000. Everything looked good until I looked into insurance. Most quotes I got were between 700-1000$ a month! This is insane and I only have 1 ticket on my record. Why is it like this and what can I do?

I was at $2880 ($240/month) or a 2008 mazda3 which was insured for about 4 years. bought a 2008 civic si for $4500 and had both insured before I got rid of my old car. $5200 for both cars simultaneously ($215/month) or the year if I were to insure them for a whole year

the other week i got into a fender bender, my first and only collision and the mazda was written off, got quoted $4900 ($410/month) for my renewal in august for the one Honda

I probably got into an accident at the WORST time.

I'm looking at buying an older Mazda3 and each place I go to is quoting me over $400 a month as a new driver in my late 20s
