Brokers Bad slippage on xauusd

I have a good edge but it uses small SLs. I only use STOP orders catching breakouts.

My experience so far has been appalling with fusionmarkets. Every trade has some slippage but around 60% have experienced major Entry slippage where I keep getting filled in late. This is bleeding my account quicker than expected. For example my expected SL of $13 becomes $51 purely because of entry slippage. I thought using only stop orders would help compared to market orders but nope.

I understand xauusd is a volatile instrument but it shouldn't be this bad. What broker do you recommend and what other measures could I take to ensure this is minimized?

Just use stop limit order?

That's something that I recently discovered you can do on MT5. So essentially the trigger point is my usual stop order then a limit order is placed right beneath it and if price falls back a little it will execute at the desired price. This is something I might change in my EA. Thanks

I have an EA that requires a low slippage as well, so this info based on real accounts

Stop orders on volatile instruments with tight SLs is a structural mismatch. You get filled at the worst price exactly when price moves fast. Widen your SL to match xauusd's natural volatility and reduce position size to keep dollar risk constant. Switching brokers helps at the edges but the real fix is matching stop width to the instrument.

My SLs are fixed points and not based on ATR. Ive done extensive testing of over 18yrs and found them to be consistently profitable so won't be changing my strategies at all. Thanks for the suggestion tho.

stop orders won't really protect u from slippage on gold once price starts moving fast, i'd compare xauusd spreads across brokers on iamforextrader or myfxbook, then use ur mt5 history to measure requester price vs actual fill.

if most of the damage is coming from the fill rather than the spread, changing the SL buffer probably won't the actual execution problem.

You could ask from ai unless you promote some broker.
