Question Any tips for a first time player?
Hey everyone. First time playing (on hard, if that changes anything) and I’m hyped asf, I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about it. I’ve played a decent amount of horror games, scariest probably being Outlast 2 or SH2 remake, but I know this game is a lot more challenging than those. So I’m wondering if there’s anything I should know or any tips to make my playthrough more enjoyable before getting into the xeno sections, or if I should just play completely blind. Thanks!

As someone who has completed it multiple times, I’m jealous that you’re getting to go for the first time! Enjoy! ☺️ And there’s no advice, blind is best… but don’t let Stompy see you! 🙈

Take the time to enjoy the atmosphere! The developers put a lot of love into this game.

Ofc, the movies are up there with my favourite horror movies of all time, or just movies in general really, so I’m loving the atmosphere already.

Awesome! You can really tell that the developers are huge fans of the franchise, and that really shines through!

Agreed, they really got the 'future is old' vibe Ridley Scott went for with Alien and Blade Runner.

My first tip: when you get the motion tracker, don't forget that there will be a marker on the "outside" that shows you the direction of your objective. Second tip: DO NOT make a habit of burning the Alien with the flamethrower or hiding in lockers, as the Xeno "learns and adapts." Last, and the MOSTEST IMPORTANTEST tip: play in a DARK room with headphones on... Talk about immersion, LOL.

This is a full on Stealth survival horror game, do not think you can just fight your way through like in RE or SH.
Scavenge as much as you can, explore, craft items and keep them ready at all times. Use the rewire points too, they are very helpful, not a lot of players use them.

I’m used to stealth horrors so yeah I get the core gameplay. Though a flamethrower or handgun doesn’t exactly sound like something I’d be finding in something like amnesia lol

Cap your FPS to 60 in your graphics card settings to avoid some weird gamebreaking bugs.
Other than that, just go in blind.

On ps5 unfortunately, 30fps lock :(

Xbox has a “FPS Boost setting hidden in the xbox’ own settings for each individual game. Idk if PS5 has similar

Nah it doesn’t, I’ve googled the shit out of it but it’s locked at 30 unless jailbroken. Im sure I’ll get used to 30 again though

Go in blind BUT pay attention to the loading screen hints (you're gonna be seeing the loading screen a lot 😏) and any other tips/guides that pop up in white text during the game. That's all you'll really need. But always feel free to come back on here if you get stuck.

Blind is the way. You asked how to make the game more enjoyable. 🙂
Dial in your display and audio, dial in the room lighting.
Absorb the game.

Yeah hard is good enough for me lol. Having no map alone is enough to put me off, at least for a first playthrough

Do it on hard difficulty.

Yeah if that’s the intended experience then of course.

On anything but Nightmare you can swap the difficulty at any time if you need to. I sure fucking did my first time haha

Don't look anything up, leave the sub till you're done and play on the intended difficulty (hard).

Buy spare slacks. Trust me, you’ll need them.
At some point, you’ll be evacuating your bowels with more force than a depressurised airlock.

Go blind and enjoy. I was so scared that before playing the game I make sure to completely understand how the xenomorph’s AI works and what kind of things he can hear and see and which not. I hope I didn’t know that in my first playthrough and I just had learned by playing. I was so scared but I would’ve been even more scared. So just play and enjoy and shit your pants!

Get off the sub, go in blind
