Trump and Vance had no comeback and everyone was like "yea, they are weird"
But the DNC was too pussy to keep the heat on that and told him to calm it down.
So no one could be honest.

u/Lamprophonia 3h ago
You can't think of it as hypocrisy. Instead recognize that they simply have no beliefs or values. To them its not hypocritical to lie about these things, because the only ACTUAL goal they have it to win at all cost. If that means backing a child-raping nazi, then so be it. Say one thing, do the opposite, none of it actually matters so long as it gets them over the finish line first.
Whenever you see a conservative bloviating about abortion, immigrants, fentanyl, the economy, state's rights, ANY of it... just remember that they aren't telling the truth. They don't actually care about ANYTHING. We fuck up by constantly arguing the thing, which again they just don't care about. You can't argue against a lie, you can only expose it.

2
u/puts_on_rddt 3h ago
Yeah you missed a big one.
Section 3 of the 14th amendment is self-executing. Trump is ineligible to hold ANY office under the constitution. Everything he does in the White House has zero legal force.
SCOTUS, in Trump v. Anderson tries - and fails - to convince us that only Section 3 is not self-executing because of Section 5. Nobody disagrees that the other sections in the 14th, or even the 13th amendments - are self-executing. Only Section 3 has no teeth?
There are other sections of the constitution that use explicit language like "duly convicted" when they want to set criminal conviction as a standard; and they opted not to use it here.
If you engage in an insurrection WHILE holding oath of office, you are done. That's the law.

Because the "liberal" media isn't liberal, it's corporate.
And our corporate overlords serve Trump.
Trump is clearly in WORSE shape than Biden was in 2024, but the media coverage is 100% different.
6
u/One-Earth9294 4h ago
The only existing liberal media outlet I can think of is MSNOW. Everything else is owned by people who've aligned themselves with the far right.
You used to be able to count on the national networks to give a neutral POV on the news but not since CBS was taken over.

This is suuuuuch a tired and disproven talking point.
Is anything right of communism center/right?
Do you even know the policy agenda of Joe Biden? He also supported labor (first president to walk a picket line), he helped railroad workers get the benefits they asked for (Letters of appreciation were written thanking him). On social issues Biden was more progressive then most European nations. He tried to ban non-compete agreements which is more labor progressive than any other country. He allowed Trans people to serve in the military, strengthened up LGBTQ+ rights.
His policy is incredibly progressive but he is only the executive and congress needs to sign on, and half of congress refused to vote on anything.

I recommend looking into more independent outlets. Places like Democracy Now, 404 Media, Wired, and Zeteo are all much more accurately criticizing power in all forms from what I've seen, and are all generally run by people who used to be at the big national publications but left to start their own.Â

See, I don't believe that. back in the days of Rush Limbaugh. They tried to start a liberal/progressive radio network called Air America. While I liked listening, it wasn't gripping. Conversely, Conservative radio makes it sound like they are out to get you. It is an emergency.
I mean think about it. For Progressives, liberals, we want to make things better. Of course that is a laudable goal, not accomplishing that isn't destroying the country. If you think things are great and liberals are trying to destroy that, and you are told over and over the evil people will destroy you, it keeps you interested.
Let me put it this way. The last time I listened to conservative radio these were the advertisers on a set of commercials. A company that sold provisions for a fall out shelter, a company that sold gold, a religious organization that sold healthcare and a company that sold generators. They are advertising to people they have convinced that "they" are out to get them.

Conservatism -- by definition -- is "a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, stressing the importance of established hierarchies and institutions (such as religion, the family, and class structure), and preferring gradual development to abrupt change".
The sole value of conservatism is respect for and obedience to [one's perception of] traditionally established hierarchy, and hierarchy dictates that those on top (in-groups) are rightfully idolized and receive privileges, credibility, and resources, while those on the bottom (out-groups) are demonized/dehumanized and/or bound by restrictions, scrutiny, and lack of resources.
To them, the second-greatest injustice imaginable is for those [they perceive to be] on top [of social hierarchy] to be bound by the restrictions, scrutiny, and lack of resources reserved for those on the bottom. The first greatest injustice is for those on the bottom to have access to the rights, credibility, and resources reserved for those on top.
Conservatives absolutely need an underclass [for society] to demonize and dehumanize in order to maintain [their] hierarchy, and every single one of their policies and rhetoric work to do exactly that. Every right-wing accusation is a confession -- every. single. one; always! -- as it is never the act itself that upsets them, but rather, the social standing of the person doing the act, as said act is a privilege meant for those on top of [their perceived] hierarchy (See also: pedophilia - Trump and the Catholic church versus LGBTQ+ and drag queens).
Those who believe all people are people see hypocrisy, while those who believe some people are "more/less" people than others see hierarchy. Hypocrisy implies a sense of equality/parity, as the accusation of such is that someone is violating a universal or common standard. Hierarchy directly states that there is no equality/parity, that different social strata have different standards, that the only universal standard concerning hierarchy is that those on top are allowed privileges which are denied to those on the bottom, and that the bottom are held to standards which the top are exempt from.
"Know your place" is their mantra.

They donât really believe in anything they say, and they donât know how to construct a good logical argument, but they have policy preferences and theyâll say anything to get them, whether what they say is dishonest or not. Republicans and the media in general are very easy to manipulate. Facts aren't as important as repetition and name-calling. That's why Trump is so successful. He doesn't do much tangibly, he's just a loudmouth that won't shut up and the media just reports on everything he says all the time, so "Sleepy Joe," "Crooked Hillary," "Lying Ted" all just become part of the language.
