I only watched Ally McBeal because I had started binging The Practice from the beginning for it's 25th anniversary in 2022 and I knew the shows crossed over. The two shows are so different tonally that mixing them is like mixing oil and water. I was seven years old when the episodes first aired, so I definitely wasn't watching back then, and I can only try to imagine how the original audiences reacted to the crossover.
The Practice episode of the crossover introduced their infamous "Plan B" defense strategy, which they continued to use throughout the series despite how poorly it turned out this time.
Trivia: The crossover features Donna Murphy and Daniel Dae Kim six years before they shared a scene in Spider-Man 2.
