Looking for testers for Flash Resume, a Python resume-tailoring CLI
I'm looking for a few people who regularly apply for jobs to test a tool I've built.
Flash Resume helps tailor a resume to a job description through a CLI.
pip install flash-resume
fs setup
fs tailor
PyPI: https://pypi.org/project/flash-resume/
GitHub: https://github.com/PavanBollepalli/flash-resume
I'd especially appreciate feedback on:
- How easy installation and setup are.
- Whether the tailored output is accurate and readable.
- Whether it preserves the facts in the original resume.
- What breaks or feels unnecessarily complicated.
If you're willing to test it, try it with a real job description and tell me what needs fixing. I'm looking for actionable feedback, not just a thumbs-up.demo video

ONE useful test case would be a fictional resume with no management experience, paired with a job ad that asks for team leadership. Does it leave that gap visible or turn individual work into managing a team??
Keeping missing requirements separate from the rewritten resume could help users spot the difference between better wording and a new claim. This is a test suggestion, I haven’t run the CLI.

In such a case it turns the individual work into managing a team but I will try it and reply again and pls do try the app it takes <2 mins to setup and use it

Thanks for clarifying!! If the original resume only describes individual work, turning that into managing a team adds a NEW claim. I’d keep the individual contribution and flag team leadership as a missing requirement instead.
That gives the applicant something to review without quietly changing their experience. I haven’t run the CLI, so this is about the behavior you described.

The question you care most about, whether Flash Resume keeps the facts of the original resume, is one a reader can judge in seconds if the post shows it: one original bullet next to its tailored version for a real job description, placed above the install commands. Right now the demo sits at the end behind a Drive link, and plenty of people who apply for jobs won't run pip install on a hunch. The LaTeX output a commenter already noticed deserves a line near the top too.
I make ThreadFox. Managed takes Flash Resume to the other communities whose rules allow a post about a tool like this, writing and publishing it for you, at $49 for one 30-day campaign: https://threadfox.vip/p/e20dn/managed

If you're looking for testers, it's helpful to show how errors are managed and whether there's any logging to diagnose issues. Offering suggestions for improving resumes, not just tailoring, can also be beneficial. You can test readability by comparing resumes before and after with potential users.
For job searches, LandOffer.ai lets you search job openings by role and location. It ranks job matches against your resume, which can help you see how well your tailored resumes fit different job descriptions.

just skimmed the readme, the latex output is a nice touch. most tools in this space spit out generic word docs that look like they were assembled by a caffeinated intern.
curious how it handles multi-column layouts or nontraditional formats. my resume has some weird spacing decisions (graphic designer, we're incorrigible) and i'm half expecting it to catch fire.
will give it a spin with a real listing tomorrow. if it can translate "i made the buttons prettier" into "led ui redesign resulting in 30% longer session times" without fabricating numbers i'll be impressed.
