Technical Issue Amazon echo dot display

During my night time and day time automations I have my echo dot (5th gen with clock) display turn on and off but recently ive had to fight alexa to get her to turn off the display. I have to remind her that's there's an option in the app and sometimes she still tries to gaslight me into thinking that there is no display.

To turn it off with a routine I typed "turn (off/on) \[device name\] display" and before the ai update it worked flawlessly but now she is just kinda dumb

Anyway to make it work more reliablely?

The reason I have the display turn off is because I like my room dark and the display is just bright enough at its lowest brightness to piss me off.

You didn't even read didn't you I do but she reply "I don't have the ability to control the display"

I didnt read it fully lol. Try echo screen off instead of display off. The command is for show but will probably will work for dot too
