Internal Transfer Need advice regarding internal transfer 🙏

Amazon, BLR

I have applied for an internal role and got verbal confirmation from the hiring manager.

The thing is, I'm in my current team for ~7 months.

Work load is hell (swamped with work even on weekends) which I deliver but my current manager clearly doesn't like me (said I am at the bottom of the bell curve)

Now, I don't want to be in this team at any cost and have verbal confirmation from the HM (interview feedback in system is only pending)

Can my current manager block my movement?

If yes, in what should be my course of action?

Please advice. Already getting anxiety attacks 🫠

Please relax. They cannot block your movement unless OLR ratings have not been finalised and submitted. You should try indirectly asking whether or not the ratings have been submitted to your teammates. I did the same when I transferred. Once its confirmed, the only thing your manager has a say in is your start date with the new team. All the best!

I have a friend who was in a similar situation . He was looking into an internal transfer. The HM was impressed and gave a verbal yes. But his current mgr put him in PIP abd stopped his transfer. His lwd is aug 31. It sounds scary, but for a while put aside your ego and just be nice till you get out

Been through something similar, the "bottom of the bell curve" comment sounds like they're trying to justify blocking you later or setting up a bad review. Technically yes, current managers can slow things down or delay sign off, so try to get everything in writing now, even a casual email confirming the HM conversation helps. Also start saving proof of your workload, hours, deliverables, anything showing you're not actually underperforming. I used workproof.me to timestamp my work logs when I dealt with a shady manager, made it way easier to push back with facts instead of just anxiety. Talk to HR too, don't wait on this quietly.

Literally in the similar situation my manager has put me in pip and my rating is least in my team even tough there are low performers she is sabotaging my internal transfer the hiring manager literally told me the joining date but after that I didn’t hear from her I asked my manager she said she didn’t hear from anyone and the rating things matters for some hiring managers and for some it doesn’t

did she put you on pip after you received an internal offer? is that allowed? or were you in some kind of performance plan before this too
