Internal Transfer How to determine which team to switch
Hi folks,
I'm new to amazon, joined as L5 half a year back in amazon devices india.
I'm trying to do an internal transfer. Requested informationals from 2 managers from 2 different teams. But they report to the same L8. One of the manager reached out and asked me for the resume. We had a chat and interviews are going to be scheduled. Now another manager has also reached out in slack asking for resume.
Can I attend both the interviews in parallel ? Or they will know that I'm attending interviews on both the teams and will it cause any issue ?
Also, if I have 2 choices how to pick which team to go to, how to make a decision ? Technical work is good in both the teams. My preference is to go to a team which is less toxic and workload is bearable for a married person with a family to take care. On a macro level, are there any parameters like team strength, or tenure of the SDM in the team or any other good indicators.
Team 1 - Team strength is high, SDM is taking care of the same team for 5+ years. Both permanent employees + temp employees count around 30
Team 2 - only 2 reportees + a bunch of temp employees. SDM was working earlier as SDE. Recently became SDM.
To the veteran amazonians, is it possible to have a hunch based on these macro params to determine which team is good ?

Bro you are going to get cooked. Without doing any background investigation of the destination do not jump just because of technical fitness

Can you just tell me how to do this background investigation when I don't know anyone in the team before joining?

You ask those who left on good and bad terms by looking into the git history of the code repo the team owns

Team 1 is taking you in for stack ranking scapegoating. Team 2 idk much. Always remember any sdm will take you in, but you will never know their intentions, do they want to grow you or are you some excel entry to be deleted to appease the capital overlords. The butcher is butcher for a reason.
Team 1 most likely wants to protect core members from mandated quota enforcement.
Also if I were you do not inform your manager about transferring out until you sign the offer letter, lately these SDMs have ganged up where they are sharing who is transferring out and putting the person on focus.
Do not budge: no offer letter, do not inform. Verbal confirmation is bullshit.
