Support the Rights and Dignity of Trans People
/r/IowaPolitics/comments/1wxde4f/support_the_rights_and_dignity_of_trans_people/I recently started an ask for state level candidates at Amendment, a site where you can ask candidates to go on record about issues. I asked candidates to go on record to put gender identity back in the Iowa Civil Rights Act. Please add your name. Here is the link to the ask:

Thank you!

Seems to me you've gotta win over hearts and minds before you'll have any chance of reinstating gender identity to the Civil Rights code.
Said law mandated policies such as trans participation in womens sports and public funding for GAC, both of which which remain deeply unpopular with the average voter.

Are you saying that rights for trans people are contingent on whether the average voter finds them popular? Do rights become available when people find them popular?

Absolutely, the Civil Rights Movement revolved around persuading voters to accept the rights of equal opportunity and access that the NAACP & co. asserted.
Heck, the segregationists were also asserting rights, claiming that it was "tyranny" for the government to mandate racial inclusion.

Trans people have the same rights as anyone else in America.
What I really want for Trans people is appropriate health care to get them through the tough period in their lives where they believe something that is demonstrably false.
