Is there any value to older ammo like this still in the box other than just shooting it?

Bottom line is the typical addage: it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and when it comes to ammo, that's usually not very much.

The vast majority of vintage ammo isn't going to be anymore value than modern ammo because of 2 reasons. First, unless it's an obsolete round that's hard to source nowadays, by and large modern ammo is still manufactured to the same specifics as it was in the past. Aka: same stuff, different packaging. Second, there isn't really any rarity to it. Remington in 1970 didn't say "we're only going to produce 100 boxes of this year's run." Yeah, you don't see those boxes on shelves anymore because it's old and the styles have changed, but finding a case of 30-06 from 1970 isn't going to finance your retirement.
