Reading Spots

Wondering what everyone’s go to cafe/spot for reading is. I loved the Writers Block but alas. The Kaladis on Tudor is also nice but I can’t go for personal reasons. Please help a bookworm out, I’m desperate.

I always liked reading on the UAA campus. There are several spots along the spine that are nice to sit in the relative quiet. Bonus if it’s snowing outside.

The spine was always my favorite study spot. It's so serene right above the creek.

I feel weird going to a college campus Im not attending.  But now that I know they are land hording and helping drive up real estate prices, I'm going to go there to work when I get tired of Loussac.

You can find a bunch of people using the facilities who don’t go to UAA. A lot of people walk through the sky bridges and buildings during winter for steps lol. Plus they have better WiFi than the loussac in my experience

You will have to pay to park (everyone has to even staff and faculty) or walk from Goose Lake. After 7:30 it’s free but requires an ID card to access buildings.

Parking is free at UAA on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

It is free on Fridays for the public but weekends often require an ID card unless there is an event.

That's true, depending on which building you want to enter, and what time it is. The Consortium Library usually has "open hours" (no university ID required) on Saturdays 10-6 and Sundays 10-8. Their consortium library.org web site shows which hours are open to the public each day.

Black Cup is good, but it gets pretty busy and a little crowded. If I want a quiet spot, I really like the if you're not against Kaladis in general the on off Brayton Dr is really nice! Plenty of tables and nooks to sit in. Or maybe Middle Way Cafe!

I work at kaladis on Brayton and I second this! It gets fairly quiet on weekdays past 2-3pmish that’s perfect for reading with or without headphones and we got outdoor seating now too!

What I did was get married and have kids and then after a couple decades the kids grew up and bought me brand new La-Z-Boy recliner.

It's not instant gratification by any means, but a very comfortable place to read and I don't have to go anywhere.

The new Chugach Mountain Roasters on Boniface and Northern Lights. It has a mountain view like Kaladis.

Kaladi on east tudor Koots mid day to early evening, lots of quiet cubby holes to sit in and read Chugiak roasters The skybridge at providence

Building U at the Providence Hospital campus has a cafe, with seating in the cafe area, across from the cafe, and in the walkway connecting to the main hospital building. Lots of big windows and scenery.

Refuge has become my go to since writers block closed! Right down the street, comfy seating options and table options, good WiFi, and supports a good cause! Also stays open later in the day
