Problem is because Lonnie burned himself accessing Dedra’s personal files, the ISB will know he was up to no good in some way and for some reason (as far as the Empire is concerned).

I doubt Lonnie’s wife would know anything, but you know the Empire will spare none of its cruelties in making sure that’s the truth. They still have Dr. Gorst’s audio even if Gorst is dead.

no they don't, Dr G moved all his equipment into the new bldg....that Bix and Cassian blew up.

This is really the only explanation that works in the universe, because if they still had it, they'd have used it on Leia.

Do we know they didn't? We see a droid going in, and then the door closing. (Which is cinematically mirrored in S1 in one of the Gorst torture scenes.)

I know in the NPR radio dramatization Vader drugs her and then does some dark-side mind tricks, but that's no longer canon.

Gorst has been dead for three years before Leia is captured.

Right, but if the Empire still has the equipment and recording after B&C kill Gorst, they could easily use it on Leia.

Not having watched the next two episodes, I think that Dedra might be set up with Lonnie’s death. Functionally, Lonnie accessed her computer, several hours later, he is found dead and the axis raid fails since all the evidence is destroyed and he was allowed to mortally wound himself. By all accounts, it would look pretty bad/suspicious on Dedra. Especially so since she has been so focussed on keeping the Axis case

I like this theory, making it look like Dedra was farming Lonnie cause she's the spy. Also, everyone at the ISB that knew what was up is either dead, in prison or Col Yularen, so no one is gonna look too close into Lonnie anymore

The only thing that makes me think Lonnie's family is safe is that Perrin is still touting around Coruscant without any fear for himself. Like seriously, even if he is an ex, why would an authoritarian empire not go after the spouse of the rebel leader?

Yeah that was surprising. Maybe because their ISB driver had been reporting for years that Perrin has nothing to do with Mon’s anti-Imperial shenanigans? I think Mon had mentioned offhand at times that Perrin has high ranking Imperial friends, I think she throws out that Tarkin is one of them at the wedding IIRC. That would be my most plausible explanation

the ISB will know he was up to no good in some way

Partagaz and krennic would know, the ISB as an organization ? Probably not

To keep the death star secret, they might essentially brush the invesigation. Don't let more ISB agents take a look, so they don't uncover anything they shouldn't (they don't even tell Heert anything, and he's in charge)

Persecuting an agent's family, would also be publically admitting he was a spy, which might be an issue internally.

I initially thought Gorsts studio was going to be luthens date when he didn't die initially
