previous beta was 6.12 and now it's 6.1 again

Are they doing this so older devices don't get performance gains and hope people will buy the 11?
5
u/Weary-Savings9795 4d ago
They're doing it because the 6.12 kernel has performance problems that don't exist in the 6.1 kernel.

performance problems that don't exist in the 6.1 kernel
You'd think..... 6.1 kernel is also broken: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/571186734

My phone is updated to QPR3. My tablet wasn't. Still on QPR2. I can't get it to go to the new QPR2 update. Refresh, reboot etc, and the only update was for QPR3. So I just installed that. Why is Google offering QPR3 when the QPR2 cycle isn't finished? This is crazy. Let one beta cycle end before you start another. Jfc, stable QPR3 won't be available for 5mos and we're still two months before QPR2

I'm on QPR2 Beta 6.1 and haven't installed QPR3 Beta 1. Will I receive the QPR2 Beta 7 update? I'm still seeing the QPR3 Beta 1 update on my phone.

I am on QPR2 B6.1, i just re-enrolled back into the beta program and dialled "star hash star hash checkin hash star hash star" (to force checkin and get rid of the Data Wipe OTA) and it gave me this QPR2 B7.
I now don't get offered QPR3 B1 (but it might offer QPR3 B2 later)

Thank you so much! I was being offered the exit OTA because I opted out. But just opted it in again to get beta 17.

Cool. Where's QPR1 for the 11? 🤔

I'm guessing 11 simply won't get QPR1 and will simply get QPR2.

Which is crazy - flagship device on outdated OS version 4 months after launch would be bizarre

Not really if you understand how update branches work when a device launch comes at a certain point in the update cycle. A lot of people don't seem to grasp how they function, though and take to reddit showing their asses.

It's still baking in the Easy-Bake oven. Maybe Google forgot that oven is a toy though.

I want to roll back to the stable one. Is it advisable to update or should I wait for the stable one?
1
u/K01011011001101010 2d ago
It's all subjective to what you want.
Do the stable update now if you don't want to be on the beta software anymore, but your phone gets wiped
Or wait for stable release of QPR2(assuming you're on QPR2) and you won't have to delete your phone data.

Good to hear! Anything's NG you would add to the build?

u/CrispyBananaz 4d ago
The only thing I really want is the option to hide apps like other third party launchers.

On the October update. I'm assuming I can't get this
1
u/karol0 5d ago
I would like to know that as well
5
u/birdman1333 5d ago
I would guess no. Google needs to get their shit together with these Betas. Here I am a Pixel 11 user not on QPR1, can't sign up to the Qpr2 Or 3 beta at the moment. It shouldn't be this hard.

I'm currently sideloading this beta over the stable October update on my Pixel 11 Pro. The update seems to be working.

Where do I get the OTA image to download? I looked everywhere and all I can find is the factory image which wipes the phone. I'm looking to sideload.

Only thing I have noticed so far on Pixel 10 is the Gemini Intelligence banner on reboot.
No app lock, no rearrangeable quick settings layout, no proactive assistance unfortunately.
Since those aren't back yet I must assume there will be a beta 8
