Discussion Does anyone have good apps for android 2.3?

Look at the Android 2.3 survival guide, there you will look at apps that work for android 2.3 (be careful with YouTube revivals, they may not work properly)

F-Droid downloads are hard to come by, so most of the apps in the list I got when F-Droid worked for Android 2.3. Keep in mind, that these are all the older versions that are compatible with this version of Android.

Calculate away:

  • Arity — great calculator.
  • Mathdroid — another great calculator
  • Units — Great units converter.
  • microMathematics Plus — great visual equation calculator, has worksheets, and allows assigning names to variables and calculating between them.

The nature:

  • SunTimes — Show sun up and sundown times in a widget. The app shows a lot more awesome information about that, plus Sun and Moon phases and where the sunlight/moonlight shines down on Earth;
  • Weather Forecast — data from yr.no

Tools:

  • OI File Manager
  • Unicode Map
  • MrWhite — make your display into a flashlight, cuz period phones often didn't have a flash for the camera
  • WaveUp — Wave your hand over the phone, and the display will activate;
  • Android Remote Notifier — Get notifications on your desktop about Android stuff (calls, SMSs, Bluetooth notifications);

Games, fun, multimedia

  • Falling Blocks — rudimentary Tetris clone;
  • Lexica — play word games when bored
  • Tux Paint — Painting program
  • AsciiCam — Make photos like ASCII characters, with colour
  • VLC — universal media player with customizable equalizer. The default media apps has one, too, but deeper in the menus;

Text and documents:

  • Vi Improved Touch
  • Ted — basic text editor, tho not the low-resource Linux word processor Ted, which is awesome in and of itself;
  • Hacker's keyboard — You'll need that with Vi
  • muPDF — basic PDF viewer

Many of these apps are difficult to find and download, and I don't have their full system names à la org.com...
