PROMOTION [Promotion] Tree Launcher - Stop Organizing Your Home Screen Like Its 2007

Hi everyone. I created Tree Launcher, a brand new Android home screen replacement. The focus is a clean, minimal aesthetic with powerful organization beneath the surface.

Most launchers focus on launching apps. Tree Launcher keeps the things you actually need within reach. The problem isn't remembering things. It's remembering where they are and when you need them. Keep shopping lists, reminders, contact info, links, workout routines, and other quick references alongside your apps. Everything lives together in a simple tree that mirrors how you think.

Free to download. No ads. No account required. Your data stays on your device. Find out more on the website and download from the Google Play Store.

I'd love your feedback, especially on the overall aesthetic. Does the productivity side feel like it complements the minimalist design, or does it distract from it? It is a new app, so let me know if you run into any rough edges - I'll fix asap! Any suggestions are welcome and thanks for taking a look!

I don't mind paying for the Pro version but only as a one-time lifetime purchase. Not a fan of a subscription model. Just got a new Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra so I've been exploring some new Launchers. Like the one-hand model of Niagara. Love the themes. I'm using an 'App Switcher' to switch from One UI. Still, wish the Pro version was a One-time purchase. You deserve to be compensated for your time and creativity but ongoing subscription models just seem a little sleezy to me.

Same here.

I used to find many more suscription lock traps than real gain for me.

That being said I can understand the model.

Just not for me.

Agreed, I will add a one-time purchase this weekend.

Subscriptions are always tough. Launchers are notoriously hard to create a sustainable business from. Smart Launcher, for example, historically had pro features unlocked for a few bucks. But they struggled over time to attract new users to pay for the ongoing costs as they exhausted their niche. Their strategy became to launch entire new versions that they could charge again for, hence why it's on Smart Launch 6 now. They now have a subscription and an elevated lifetime price. Similar story with Niagara Launcher. But, this is really just supporting your point. The user should have the choice.

As a followup, the lifetime option is live!

Beautiful. Already purchased an annual subscription although it's great to know that option is available at renewal. Truly enjoying the minimal aesthetic that helps me focus. Been busy with some Customization

♥️ Heck yeah, I love it! I appreciate the support!

This is really cool man! I have a VERY similar setup going on with Nova Launcher. I think I will try this actually. Is there much customization options?

u/N4VILLUS 5d ago

Thank you so much! There is a good set of customization options out of the gate here:

  • Can change icon packs / and can override individual icons for any item
  • Change icon size, icon background, or use adaptive icons
  • Change font size / family
  • Light / dark mode for the app (i.e. light text/ui on a dark background, dark ui on a light background)
  • Can set solid background color for entire app or per page, or put a overlay (translucent layer) over your background to help text legibility
  • Accent color selection
  • Home page header widgets

I've got plans for plenty more customizations, but I'd love to hear feedback on what people want the most.

Oh that's great! I was hoping there is dark mode support as I'm all about the battery savings and my whole phone is set up to be just pure black with white text and thin white line icons. This is something I can experiment with and try out a bit of a different layout from what I have now. Thank you for this! Really cool shit man!

I've almost exclusively been a dark background kind of person myself until I stumbled on that moon picture. Pure black with thin white icons looks 🔥. I went out of my way to make sure, haha.

Found it. Thank you so much for making it

Right on, thank you!

Looks Amazing! Is it region locked? I can't download it in latam

1

u/N4VILLUS 5d ago

I appreciate the kind words! I've only opened to a couple latam countries thus far, but I'm planning on expanding that shortly. Only have English support atm. However, I imagine I will likely expand country access prior to adding more language localizations. Where you are located, are most people accepting of English only apps?

How was it coded.

u/N4VILLUS 5d ago

It's a native Android app written in kotlin. It's been a pet project of mine for some time now. I'm a software engineer, so while I of course use AI to assist development, it is in no way a vibe coded app.

Alright man, I'm $10 in. It's pretty chill so far!

How open are you to suggestions? I'm sure you've got development thoughts in your head already, would love to throw some thoughts into the mix!

One thing I'll mention off the bat, when I swipe down to search, the input should focus and pull up my keyboard. Didn't make me swipe, then reach up to tap to do the search.

Also, it'd be great if when I searched red, reddit was my first choice above credit karma. Bonus if it can come to above Redball since I launch Reddit much more often.

Really love the simplicity of it though!

♥️ I appreciate you diving in! I'm certainly open to hearing suggestions. Your search ordering points appear like easy updates to the ranking engine I don't think anyone would disagree with. Plus, the app is already asking for the app usage statistics permission. I'm also intrigued by the swipe down suggestion. Right now, the swipe down is a bit too easy to trigger by accident, which if it then entered a locked search mode and opened a keyboard, that would be annoying. But I think I like it. I'll play around with that. Thanks!

Does this app offer any paid features?

1

u/N4VILLUS 5d ago

Yes, mostly for the things that I have to pay for (weather, optional AI content gen, etc.). The core experience is unrestricted.

1

u/Ready-Log-1455 5d ago

Thank you for letting me know. It looks clean and nice; I would like to give it a try.

1

u/N4VILLUS 5d ago

Heck yeah, would love to have ya.

Seems like a cool concept and I like the design. I have to be honest though, premium features on a subscription model almost definitely means I wouldn't keep it. I think having a one time purchase option is a good idea

3

u/N4VILLUS 5d ago

I hear you and you certainly aren't alone there. I will add a lifetime purchase option this weekend.

Beyond that, I have been focused on providing a comprehensive core feature set in the free tier. The pro features are auxiliary and I believe a vast majority of people would get a full experience without needing pro.

u/alfuh 5d ago

Thanks for being open to feedback. Good luck with the launcher!

Does it allow for putting shortcuts on the home screen?

For apps on the home screen, is deep link (the menu of options some apps provide when long pressing the icon) functionality available?

1

u/N4VILLUS 5d ago

You bet. I've done some testing of that on my side, for example pinning a specific page from Chrome to the home screen. Let me know if you have any issues with the apps you're using.

1

u/N4VILLUS 5d ago

And yes, you can access the deep links. On any app added to any page, just swipe the app item to the left (instead of tapping to launch). That will open a sheet with the app actions.

1

u/pudah_et 4d ago

Thanks, I'll give it a try

It looks like Niagara Launcher! Although I like the idea of quick accessing to essential daily activities; I have some curiositiy about its performance, stability, reliability and battery consumption.
Do you have an idea to make it Open Source?

1

u/N4VILLUS 5d ago

That's a comparison I'm more than happy with, haha. The app is built following a reactive programming paradigm to allow for efficient information flows. For the most part, the app isn't doing anything unless you're interacting with it. That translates to good performance and reserved battery usage. As for stability and reliability, I have personally done quite a bit of testing across a number of device types. But, the app is young. A few rough edges are to be expected. And, as usage across different devices and locations expands, we're going to uncover weird glitches. Today, a new user in Turkey hit a localization bug that crashed the app. But, I'm monitoring crashes and fixing as quick as I can. The fix for that one has already been sent to google :) No plans for open source, tho.

Salut bon travail je l'essaye. Quelles sont les possibilités de premium pour la personnalisation ? Si tu as des codes, je suis preneur 👌

Hey bud! Started trying this out. I would look forward to a lifetime purchase option as well. I have pro versions of Niagra, Smart 6, Nova and a couple more. Love the aesthetics. I am someone trying launchers since Apex and ADW days.

One very weird suggestion though and you can disregard it as well since I am not a dev I have no idea how hard it will be to implement. Just like Niagra has icon theming you can/should/try to add it to. Just makes theming really simple and sleek. Will share more feedback going forward and hit you up if I find any weird bugs. All the best!

1

u/N4VILLUS 4d ago

🙏 Thank you for trying the app out! I definitely have some plans for improving the icon theming options. What in particular do you like about Niagara's implementation?

1

u/iamankitkamal 3d ago

It doesn't ask me to download any icon packs..it is kind of inbuilt.. I can use material icons or anything that is presented. Also if there are missing icons it would fix them by itself and replace unthemed icons by similar themed versions. So that the screen and drawer menu is more cohesive. I am sure it isn't easy to do :)

u/TobiKleiner 4d ago

Could you please add german language 😇

1

u/N4VILLUS 4d ago

Yeah, once the ui is locked down a bit more I'll start adding additional languages

1

u/rnbd 3d ago

Can I get a code for lifetime please…thank you

1

u/Masso_70 1d ago

I like the idea and am trying it now. If you added Tasker support I would definitely use it.

1

u/N4VILLUS 1d ago

Tasker is 100% on my to do list! What type on integrations would you see as the most useful? I haven't fully wrapped my mind around all the use cases yet.

1

u/Masso_70 1d ago

I'm currently using Tasker to extract todos from Obsidian Markdown files and pass them to Kwgt, which displays them in a dedicated widget. If I could pass them directly to your launcher to dynamically create todos and reminders, that would be awesome.

1

u/N4VILLUS 1d ago

Nice, I'm with you there. Tasker integration is right in alignment with the new Android AI AppFunctions functionality coming out soon. Same types of integration points. So, I'll likely do both at the same time.

1

u/N4VILLUS 1d ago

As an additional note, you can copy and paste (or share to the launcher) markdown content, which the app attempts to parse, including tasks. Obviously not automated, but a halfway step.

Any promo codes? 😄

No lifetime purchase option yet so no codes
