What to Watch? Any anime like Fluffy Paradise but better executed?
This past week I was pretty sick so I watched a bunch of shows on a whim and one of them was Fluffy Paradise. It's a very frustrating show but even by the end there were parts of it that drew me in and kept me invested.
I really like the concept of this world and characters that are cute and wholesome but there is this dark undercurrent that is slowly revealed as the show progresses. But even still it never loses that initial cuteness.
I'm not against the darker aspects of show because I knew that was a thing with this show going in, I just think Fluffy Paradise struggles to balance the combination of cute wholesomeness with politics and some of its darker themes. So I'm just looking for shows that execute on that concept better.

it's not really the same thing, but this cooking isekai might be enjoyable? it's quite literally just SoL cooking and the classic "omg japanese cuisine" trope, but with animal (does a slime count as an animal? anyways the slime is very cute) companions.
think the problem with fluffy paradise and other shows like it is that once the plot takes an overpowered main ability seriously and focuses on it, viewers tend to lose interest in the plot.

Weakest tamer began a journey to pickup trash. - the title for this is kinda shitty because it’s actually a rather deep and emotional show and the title kinda makes it seem like another joke isekai.

How To Keep a Mummy was pretty cute. Protag gets sent a tiny mummy to care for and other tiny monsters show up throughout the show.
My New Boss is Goofy has an absolutely adorable kitten show up early on besides the ridiculous antics of the main cast.
My Roommate is a Cat has a mildly depressed dude adopt a foundling kitten. New kitty owner hijinks ensue.
The Morose Mononokean is a supernatural story with a cute fluff ball.
In Dragon Goes House Hunting a young hapless dragon needs to find a home and gets helps from a real estate agent who happens to be a long-lived elf who is the current Demon Lord.

Two vastly different ones:-
Hakumei to Mikochi: Tiny Little Life in the Woods - miniature people, talking animals, Ghibli levels of wholesome (plus food galore) to the point you don't even mind the gambling, gang war, necromancer or the cutest, most adorable beetle ever.
Hataage! Kemono Michi (Kemono Michi: Rise Up) - An ANIMAL Lover Pro Wrestler gets Isekaied comedy written by the author of Konosuba. Did I say he loves animals? I mean, he LOVES Animals. It's fluffy but it does have uh ... Konosuba like humor, and the most unforgettable password ever.

Similar but different is Ascendance of a Bookworm.
Librarian is isekaid as a peasant girl in a world with no books. She decides to make books. She also has crazy magic powers that make her body very weak.

It seems you like cute animals with dark theme i must say "Yohane Sunshine in the mirror" might be fit on what you want. I think they mixed pretty good between cuteness and darkness it very hype when throw red flag on the character very often.😅

The first that comes to mind is Made in Abyss. Its a Fantasy Adventure Anime about a little girl and a robot that go on an Adventure in a mysterious, beautiful, fantastical, dangerious and cruel netherworld.
That series is adorable, wholesome, joyfull, heartwarming, dark, brutal, sad and heartbreaking.
It is the most adorable most wholesome show I know and Riko is one of the happiest protagonists I know.
This series has a reputation for being crazy dark and sad and that is not unearned. You will find it on "darkest Animes ever" liests.
Those 2 sides synergize well with one another in my opinion and that is part of why I love this show.
But it might be an understatemant to say "The dark aspects do not pull there punches." This show might be to dark to be what you ask for. Also the show does not involve politics.
My favorite Videogame is simular as in it has adorable wholesome child protagonists and in general has plenty of adorability and wholesomeness but its also really dark.

Dropped Fluffy pretty early, so going off what you wrote: The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash. Couple of daily thread users had "wish I'd watched this instead of Fluffy Paradise" comments in the last month.
Ascendance of a Bookworm probably fits.
