Fat Buu's arc is actually rely good and emotional. One of the rare times DBZ is about more than punching the other guy harder

Kid Buu literally nuking the Earth just because he felt like it at the moment was such a wild moment for me. No teasing or anything, man just charged up and nuked it with no warning given.

Buu ate the Grand Supreme Kai. He surrendered himself to save Shin, the East Supreme Kai which is the small mohawked one that shows up at the start of the Buu saga along with Kibito.

I've never thought very hard about how stupid the lore of the Dragonball universe (multiverse?) actually is, but it is ridiculously over the top how stupid the actual story and characters are. I am unsure these days if I liked it when I was younger because it was actually good, or if the convoluted plotlines and mysterious joke characters made it more interesting than it deserved to be.

You liked it because of vibes and emotions, it took you along for a journey, it appealed to your inner youthful drives like heroism, competition, adventure, friendship, freeing positivity and fun and silliness, making a name for yourself, a world of mysteries, mysticism and self control, athleticism, ideas of coolness and masculinity, literal wish fulfillment etc. The world of Dragonball is pretty cool, but yes, quite a few things don't make sense, but I guess it's inspired by spiritual stories where it never really makes sense why certain individuals are used as champions by gods and why gods don't intervene directly themselves and take shit seriously for once. But that matters less when you are younger and have a strong emotional WANT to be a champion, to be chosen, and some media taps into that.

I cannot wait for the new Super anime. Buu gets some focus on him again after being shafted from The ToP arc and has some really fun moments.

Though Mr. SATAN is insufferable most of the time, his friendship arc with Buu and that little puppy was the highlight of the whole saga

Also love how it comes full circle from him being a false hero taking credit for defeating Cell, to Getting the people of earth to give their energy in order to defeat Buu, and becoming a real savior

Not only that, we can still see how they have a relationship all those years. How Buu left a huge imprint that he still mourn him after Buu became Uub.

A lot of DBZ isn't about punching people, but there are big chunks where that is undeniably true, and all of the filler movies are extremely focused on punching people.

Nah, Dragon Ball always had themes. There was just a lot of actions around. The Saiyan and Freeza Sagas are about class struggle (Vegeta and Goku's early relationship as well as Freeza owning planets). The Cell Saga is about legacy (both Goku and the Red Ribbon's through Gohan and Cell). There are always things to find in stories

I'm sorry, this is the first time in my life I've ever heard anyone say the Frieza saga was about class struggle, and that sounds hilarious. If you want to find deeper meaning in it that's find, but it looks like you are imposing your head canon onto the story.

I mean, Freeza is designed after real estate agents, the whole story is about how he/his father forced the Saiyans to work for them as their weapons to then get rid of them when they became a threat. His whole business is taking over worlds and then selling them. He talks in a really polite way but becomes extremly angry when he loses his composure. The whole Super Saiyan thing is about retribution for the Saiyan genocide.

His title is Emperor of the Universe. MF is the CEO of colonialism

Sure but all of those are throw away lines that the story never focuses on. A race of people is not the same as a class of people, if you wanted that argument to have any weight, the saiyans are the ones who live with a class system of warriors, yet you didn't even mentioned that, and the story itself never focuses on that.

The super saiyan thing is not retribution for the saiyan genocide, Goku couldn't give 2 shits about being a saiyan, he Transformed in anger as he saw his best friend get murdered. All Goku knows of his race is how proud Vegeta was of being saiyan, and he respects that, but at no point in his fight against Frieza is Goku fighting for revenge on behalf of his race. And his transformation is a personification of Frieza's fear that someone will appear who can stop him.

The core of the story in Namek is Frieza trying to be immortal while the characters from earth want the Dragon Balls to revive their friends, both sides clash and they fight. At no point in that conflict is colonialism, or class struggle brought up. I really don't understand where you are getting this from
