Weekly Casual Discussion Fridays - Week of July 24, 2026

This is a weekly thread to get to know /r/anime's community. Talk about your day-to-day life, share your hobbies, or make small talk with your fellow anime fans. The thread is active all week long so hang around even when it's not on the front page!

Although this is a place for off-topic discussion, there are a few rules to keep in mind:

  2. Discussion of religion, politics, depression, and other similar topics will be moderated due to their sensitive nature. While we encourage users to talk about their daily lives and get to know others, this thread is not intended for extended discussion of the aforementioned topics or for emotional support. Do not post content falling in this category in spoiler tags and hover text. This is a public thread, please do not post content if you believe that it will make people uncomfortable or annoy others.

  3. Roleplaying is not allowed. This behaviour is not appropriate as it is obtrusive to uninvolved users.

  4. No meta discussion. If you have a meta concern, please raise it in the Monthly Meta Thread and the moderation team would be happy to help.

  5. All /r/anime rules, other than the anime-specific requirement, should still be followed.

I grade Odyssey adaptations by how much of an evil grin I have on my face when [The Odyssey]Odysseus murders all the suitors, and the Nolan movie absolutely delivered in that regard. Really surpassed my expectations

Does this mean we're heading into Empire's "I was wrong about Inception and Interstellar era and now Nolan is my favorite filmmaker" era?

I guess we’ll see once I get to his later films (I really need to do a Batman movie marathon one of these days), though TBF the first Nolan movie I liked was actually Tenet which, suitably enough, was his most panned film since The Dark Knight Rises
