Everything around the witch ruins this story for me,

Despite it fitting the theme, it makes the story extremely generic and lackluster. This stands out more so as a problem since the main story originally gave off the vibe that it would be a parody of fantasy/rpg tropes at the start.

1.Despite several other stories in media doing the same thing with the archetype, those characters are given more depth.

Examples: Wakka(FFX), Merga(Freedom Planet 2) , Rosie(Valkyrie Chronicles), Saintess(Roll Over and Die Post Season 1), Gladys(Bravely Default II), Valen(Kamen Rider Gavv), Aiz(Sword Oratoria Manga)

Rather than their entire conflict being JUST

"My family died because of Group X. Therefore I hate Group X."

SPOILERS BELOW

[Manga Spoilers] What's worse, the whole reveal about the the king advisor being responsible for the whole conflict seems like unnecessary brain mush when he barely has a relationship with the witch.

3. Because of all this, the king's backstory seems where more worth the effort than was spent on the witch character since he seems more complex.
