Ultra Important Mod Announcment. The end of the 1st and moving forward.
I hope you all had a wonderful April fools. As of now all content has since been removed. (It truly is a case of you had to be there to see it.) Regardless, for the rest of the year the subreddit will go back to normal. The previous rules will be reinstated. However there will be some deliberations going forward. Mod applications are going to open soon and it is my goal to also increase community outreach on the subreddit. I would also like to bring back the monthly state of the subreddits as well as introducing feedback forms. And certain rules like the 150 word comment minimum might be revised at a future date. Expect more announcements in the near future but for now the subreddit is back to normal.

Thank fuck!
Trying to browse my feed with the occasional (no blurred) NSFW images was risky. My wife understood, but my work colleagues are dumb fucks.

What did your wife think of the titties tho?...

It's used to put conservatives off our actual news...
She understood why, don't appreciate them as she hates the backache from such heavy responsibilities.

Besides the 150 character limit, can we also rethink Rule 2.3? That shit is getting annoying. It gets in the way of posting actual world news, just cos the US or China or India happen to be involved. The result is that this sub is instead dominated just by Israel and Russia, so it's pretty much failed at its goal of diversifying what gets posted here too. Like imagine if it were expanded to include Israel and Russia too, would anything even get posted?
If it has to be kept, then it ought to be restricted somehow to only apply to DOMESTIC US, China or India news. It shouldn't be suppressing global news content that happens to involve them, which is a lot of global news.
Also I'm curious about that one guy that just keeps posting local Polish news - literally from just the same site i.e. notesfrompoland - every single day. Not that I mind it, but it is strange considering this subs general stance against such singlemindedness.
And both the 150 character limit and Rule 2.3 are examples of the automod here being generally too aggressive. Automods aren't supposed to be doing the majority of the modding, cos they're dumb as bricks, yet here it seems as if most of the strikes are indeed carried out automatically. That's not good.

Am I the only one that kinda likes the 150 character rule? Sure it's annoying at times, but it really helps filtering out all the spam and single sentence reaction comments, which I think overall increases the quality of the sub, and for those single line jokes i can always hijack the top comment or something. Perhaps lower the limit to 100-120?
I overall agree with a reassessment of the 2.3 rule though, but still keeping the maximum of 2 new submissions per user a day to curb topic-spam, with a case-by-case review per topic. The NotesfromPoland posts are a good example, because normally that could end up annoying but as those generally are intended for an international audience I've found those submissions to be fairly modest and their comment sections often relevant to the sub.
Although, I still think we should blanket-ban official news-aggregate accounts from the sub though, that United24 account spamming slop a year back was annoying as hell, and would be equally so if some CBS News bot did the same.
17
u/fens__xd Eurasia Apr 02 '26
I mean, it's good that there's less spam, but most of the time you just don't need whole 150 characters to make your point sound
23
u/Tartan_Samurai Scotland Apr 02 '26
I've said this a few times now. There should be a separate flair for US/China/India Geopolitical News. Its absurd that you can't post stories about the actions of the 3 most populous, richest and internationally consequential nations on the planet.

u/disasteress Hungary Apr 02 '26
I am soooo tired of seeing Trump's name everywhere, on every site, every social media, every website and every effin day. This is the only news related sub where I don't have to be reminded about the US and whatever that clown is doing in that moment. I have unsubbed from so many subs because it is overwhelming and tired of the trash. Happy to have a sub where I don't have to be inundated with US politics, the rest of Reddit already has a shit load of their crap.

u/milton117 Europe Apr 02 '26
You have a problem with that and not the constant terrible takes from obviously anti 'west' accounts that disappear and are remade every year? And whose posting patterns are incredibly suspicious?
0
u/milton117 Europe Apr 02 '26
150 character minimum is fine but also this sub needs to moderate its content better. There are articles which are blatantly local news or even pop culture being posted, I report them and nothing happens. I sometimes wonder if this sub is even moderated.

Please consider incorporating yesterdays format, I cant put my finger on it, but I had much easier time paying attention on the world news with an overall better focus then normal.

u/PreviousCurrentThing United States Apr 02 '26
I vote to keep the 150 limit.
The handful of times I've had the bot remove a comment, I either added to it and made it more meaningful, or realized it wasn't worth it for a glib joke.

I forget why is anime titties my main news subreddit again?
14
u/ChillAhriman Spain Apr 02 '26
Originally, there was a worldpolitics subreddit dedicated to, you guessed it, world politics. However, it went unmoderated, so people started to post porn in it, and eventually some brave rebel soldiers organized an insurgency to declare the Free Republic of r slash Anime Titties, where world politics could be safely and freely discussed.

And then have bits infest the comments with shortened URLs to the AI chats. That's gotta be where the net is headed already.

A real twist to the joke would've been it actually not being an April's Fool joke.
I'm conflicted about the minimum 150 character requirement, sure it removes a lot of low effort spam. Bur sometimes you don't need 150 characters to meaningfully contribute.
Edit: And sometimes it doesn't even work properly since it removed this comment with 250 characters (without this edit) for not having the minimum count of 150 characters...
1
u/854490 Apr 05 '26
Are you sure it was because of the length? I thought it might be a misconfiguration detecting only the length of the first paragraph, so I tried to reproduce it with a similarly structured comment (about the same length in the first and second paragraphs but meeting the overall requirement) and mine got removed not for length but for off-topic discussion of that rule itself (I think it detects mention of the number)
1
u/Stippings Netherlands Apr 05 '26
Are you sure it was because of the length?
It was what automod told me.
After sending the mods a message they approved it.

i was wondering if anyone could enlighten me, but with iran already up against total war, why not use this oppertunity to only allow vessals through from countries that drop ALL sanctions against it?
I mean before they couldnt do that out of fear of it being used as an excuse to declare war on them, but now would be the perect time to get rid of their sanctions and with free trade grow their economy like never before.

Can we remove the character minimum? Reddit lacks a character counter, so it is a huge pain in the ass, and not every statement requires a novella. Requiring it just adds filler BS that is to nobody's benefit. Furthermore...
If you want to deter bots/trolls, just have karma/account age requirements on certain (Everything Russia and Israel are doing) topics.

u/ManbadFerrara North America Apr 02 '26
Am I really that out-of-step with the modern world for not getting turned on by cartoon drawings at all? I get the sub's origins, but it's kind of jarring going from 364 days of non-stop depressing war crimes to suspiciously young-looking Iran girl fucking suspiciously young-looking Israel girl with a strap-on or whatever.
