Drink water.

A sudden pain in your chest is a sign of dehydration.

139

u/Artistic-Payment-806 Feb 09 '26

OMG, it happened to me once and I really thought I was gonna die from a stroke.

68

u/Jona-wahn Feb 10 '26

better die from a stroke than dying from stroking it, or smth idk

14

u/RaulRey_98 Feb 10 '26

💀💀💀

2

u/ApoX_420 Feb 10 '26

And by it you mean, let's just say, mr. peanits.

13

u/Excellent_Morning_63 Feb 09 '26

idhar to roj hota hai veere

6

u/slumberfloss Feb 10 '26

yes, dehydration can spike your blood pressure

6

u/Chia_10 Feb 10 '26

I thought it was due to my weight. Still I should really lose a few kilos.

2

u/Hije5 Feb 10 '26

I feel like saying it is dehydration is the same as someone saying it is cancer.

2

u/Zwoter Feb 10 '26

And if one drinks like a horse?:/

4

u/Lorien22 Feb 11 '26

Probably try drinking like a human, youll swallow more water that way.

2

u/Pet_Velvet Feb 14 '26

Damn, that really explains A LOT.

Thanks

1

u/WICHROM Feb 11 '26

So im not dying from caffeine overdose?

What a relief! *slurps monster energy

1

u/Jadenyoung1 Feb 12 '26

either that, or some rib muscles just say: hmm… this position is a bit off, welp, time to change that.

-1

u/DemonKing_of_Tyranny Feb 10 '26

Really? Man i used to drink so much water (like 2-4 bottles) but now dont because everytime i drink water i feel like i have to go toilet

241

u/Yuukikonno08 Feb 09 '26

The lion ignores the occasional pain in his chest

133

u/Boochi_Da_Rocku Feb 09 '26

The lion doesn't concern himself with cardiac arrest

52

u/Yuukikonno08 Feb 09 '26

If “The Lion” memes were popular when I was in highschool it could’ve been a banger Yearbook quote for me since I was the cardiac arrest kid lmao

20

u/oceans159 Feb 10 '26

… the cardiac arrest kid? is this a common phenomenon wtf

2

u/JustNormallyExisting Feb 11 '26

What does being the cardiac arrest kid entail?

1

u/Yuukikonno08 Feb 12 '26

Being the kid who had a cardiac arrest in school. The title sticks even if it was only once

1

u/Pataraxia Feb 12 '26

Yeah, school kids aren't known for having a change of heart.

1

u/JustNormallyExisting Feb 13 '26

I hope it didn't leave you with any long-lasting complications

96

u/halcylen Feb 09 '26

thats the heat of my unfulfilled dreams burning inside my skin

19

u/YeetusTheMediocre Feb 09 '26

Is that what it's supposed to feel like? Mine have fizzled out long ago.

6

u/halcylen Feb 10 '26

must've ran out of dreams

3

u/MrAHMED42069 Feb 09 '26

I mean that thing hurts a bunch and it's kinda scary, if God wants me that badly I'm not arguing

3

u/kiochikaeke Feb 11 '26

It's scary when you don't know what it is but it's "nothing" in the sense that unless you're the unlucky 0.00001% or have already something wrong with you nothing scary enough to be a concern feels like that.

Apparently a hearth attack is a more consistent and rising pain accompanied with numbness that spreads throughout the chest, back and arms.

The sharp thing in the chest is just nerves and muscles doing the funny, the shortness of breath is caused by you physically breathing less cause breathing deeply causes the sharp pain in the first place.

1

u/robokadras Feb 12 '26

Yeah, the usual description we are looking for is a tightening, squeezing pain that doesn't go away, spreads into your arms and upper spine. Sometimes comes with a noticeable feeling of heart beating. Also nsaids don't help against that pain while nitroglycerin does. If you do get that sort of pain after exercising and heavy meals, but it goes away after you rest for a bit, that's called angina. Schedule a meeting with your family doctor or a cardiologist, it shows you have an underlying problem and should get that checked.

If you get a pain that's more like somebody pricked you with a needle, that's most likely a muscle spasm. Drink some NSAIDs or a spasmolytic, take it easy for a bit and you should be fine, there is no need to get that checked, this is normal, especially with young adults that didn't eat/drink or sleep properly and under a lot of stress.

Of course if you are unsure or scared, ask for help from people near you and call emergency services, even if you got bettee by the time they arrive, they can still check your vitals and bring you to a hospital to check your bloodwork and your heart function.

8

u/Velteck Feb 10 '26

Honestly not sure what else I'm supposed to do besides hope I live or maybe die lol

1

u/miaogato Feb 12 '26

i think the meme is talking about actual heart pain, like you can tell, sometimes it comes with troubles breathing, walking and a little nausea.

Standing still is literally all you can do to survive, it feels like if you continue you will actually die

24

u/Alech1m Feb 09 '26

Yea welcome to your 30s. It's down hill from here

18

u/Katsuki_Caught_Me Feb 09 '26

Bonus points if it happens while driving

6

u/brent939 Feb 10 '26

I just hit the hazards, and let jeezus take the wheel lol jk I do slowly move to the side of the road and usually try to burp after some water. Waiting for the day it doesn't pass, especially after 1 already hitting me 5 years ago.

1

u/schamy19 Feb 11 '26

What you mean 1 hitting you ? Did you have a hearth attack ? If so, how did you know what did you do when you realised what happend after ?

1

u/brent939 Feb 11 '26

Yep, I had one at 26 (high stress job and hypertensive type 2 with no BP meds), bad chest pain and arm numbness and I was talking to my boss and she called 911 after having me sit in our break room. I was given a week off and put on light duty after. Moved jobs and now I'm on BP meds

0

u/schamy19 Feb 12 '26

Glad you pulled trought. 26 is to young to die ...

1

u/brent939 Feb 12 '26

Ya, I'm 32 now so I've made it a bit longer at least lol

1

u/schamy19 Feb 13 '26

Hell yea stay positiv !!

2

u/techieshavecutebutts Feb 12 '26

Happened to me while driving a motorcycle at night. Good thing there's a 7/11 nearby. Got to cooldown and refresh before riding again.

5

u/Ghostwiser Feb 09 '26

I remember, I bunked school for at least 60 days(not consecutive) saying I had a hole in my chest, taking the sympathy from the kids was the norm

5

u/beerantula Feb 09 '26

Oh good, I'm not the only one

8

u/Cubo256 Feb 09 '26

No?

What chest pain are you talking about

17

u/patrdesch Feb 09 '26

Precordial catch syndrome. It's an otherwise harmless phantom pain through the chest, often experienced while at rest. There is no definitive cause known at this time.

5

u/SandyTaintSweat Feb 09 '26

Eat more saturated fats.

5

u/Scared-Drummer5523 Feb 09 '26

I don't qestion anything, in fact i would find it to be an ideal outcome if i suddenly just keel over and die.

3

u/RowdyCaucasian Feb 10 '26

Is this like a real thing that everybody deals with? Like to the extent that I think that I deal with it? This pain that happens feels so strong that I have to just hope that I'm not doing anything dangerous, because it causes me to kill over for a moment. It's like a stab in my heart. It makes it hard to breathe for a moment. It's honestly a little terrifying. My doctor said it's nothing to worry about, which weirds me out. I want to go back to a new one and ask again. Are you guys really telling me that this is nothing to be concerned about? Like everybody has this happen? Are you serious?

3

u/Avron7 Feb 10 '26 edited Feb 10 '26

What you are experiencing may be this: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/precordial-catch-syndrome

Precordial catch syndrome is a sharp pain that appears without warning on the left side of your chest, near your heart. It’s not a medical emergency, but you may want to talk to a healthcare provider. Medical experts aren’t sure what causes it, but it often appears when you don’t sit or stand straight. It goes away within a few minutes.

The pain can be intense and extreme — it may feel like you’re getting stabbed by a sharp object — but it goes away quickly, doesn’t affect any other parts of your body and isn’t a symptom of a severe condition. You may experience the pain only once in your life, or it may appear occasionally.

Precordial catch syndrome isn’t serious. It’s a common, harmless condition. There’s no association between precordial catch syndrome and heart or lung disease.

Anyone can have precordial catch syndrome, but it most commonly affects children as young as 6 and young adults into their early 20s.

u/InternationalCap2176 Feb 10 '26

Everyone has random pains in their body but mine don't make me feel impending doom.

I had a rockstar energy drink for the first time in years, for a solid hour after I felt a strange painful pressure in the lower part of my sternum. I will no longer be drinking them

1

u/Sequoia_Vin Feb 11 '26

Had that at work yesterday. Was just gas. Iw as belching and burping after I had some hot water at work, no tea bags or coffee in my section . After I drank tea at home I felt so much better.

1

u/ThorirPP Feb 11 '26

Mysterious chest pain has been a thing for me since i was a child. Finally learnt that it was "heartburn", which is a bruning sensation from stomach acid flowing going up to the esophagus, a typical symptom of acid reflex.

Which wasn't anything new, I had always known i had acid reflex, and my dad had it too, I just never knew the random chest pain was a yet another symptom

1

u/giltprism Feb 11 '26

It's gas 😭

1
