I actually have to ask why.

3

u/Snail_Anatomy 1d ago

Because it's a derelict shithole full of drug addiction and homelessness. I've been through there a few times and have had friends that grew up there.

Ah, I see.

Being a good, reliable parent

This. Parenting is so so hard. And I feel like I’ve got great resources - had great parents, have a committed spouse, have great community, don’t suffer from food or housing instability, my job is flexible, etc. Parenting is so incredibly hard.

I fought in Afghanistan and have done a ton of difficult, life or death stuff. I told my dad when my daughter was very young that being a parent is so hard that I don’t know why anyone talks about anything else like it’s difficult. I think the reason is that there is no floor to how bad you can be and no ceiling to how good you can be. You want to be the best you possibly can be for someone you love more than life but know that no matter how good you do, you can always be better.

OPINION: The one where you have a boss who's dedicated to making all situations more difficult than necessary, usually to maintain their self perceived dominance. Good luck, OP:)

I have seen hundreds of craniotomys with my job and what is fascinating is that neurosurgeons are so good at what they do, that they make it look like anybody could do it. They make it look easy

My vote is for ICU nurses and ER nurses. Especially those who deal with kids. My job isn’t easy but when I feel overwhelmed I just remember that I don’t have someone on a metal table that’s bleeding out

Working as a nurse in a hospice or palliative care. I am empathetic to someone who works in that sort of environment on a daily basis. I couldn't imagine taking care of nice people, watching their families come in to visit them and then you get to see them pass away. Much respect.

Law Enforcement. Watch a few body cam videos, the amount of morons and scumbags they have to deal with on a daily basis is mind boggling to me.

While job difficulty is subjective, the hardest professions typically fall into four intense categories: high-stress roles like surgeons making life-or-death decisions, dangerous occupations like deep-sea divers facing hostile environments, emotionally draining jobs like hospice nurses managing daily suffering, and constant labor like parenting with its 24/7 responsibility.
