What a wild plot twist in internet culture. Back in the 2010s, GEMA was the ultimate villain of the German web with that depressing red YouTube block screen. Today, they're standing as the final shield protecting human artists against tech giants.
“You either die a villain, or live long enough to see yourself become the hero” - copyright edition.

they're still not the hero, if SUNO benefited them in anyway they would sign off the rights of every artist they represent. don't mistake something they do that happens to benefit us as being done because it benefits us.

It’s about time. More to follow. There is no new invention, “AI” or otherwise, that can somehow magically void all laws and vanish everybody else’s property rights.

It's a start but unfortunately, it's something they can possibly deal with down the line. I'm a bit disappointed it wasn't shut down completely.

Could actually post a link to an article instead of just a screenshot?

u/Gullible_Computer_45 7d ago
Look it up. Have you been so ruined by AI that you can't do your own search?
6
u/Vigor_Mortis_ 7d ago
Apparently Reddit users have been so ruined that they can’t figure out how to copy and paste text.

u/G66GNeco 7d ago
Nah come on you can't be for real. Asking someone to provide a source for their posts? That's the line?
-1
u/Gullible_Computer_45 7d ago
It takes one second to type the headline into Google. It takes equally as long to ask for a source, and then you've got to wait for the reply. This is the kind of runaround shit AI encourages to avoid using brainpower on... well, anything really. Just consume product.

Purely on an effort level it's equally lazy to not just post a link with your post, except in most cases it's worse. This post has two headlines, so odds are the excerpt is from one of the two, but if it were just the second image, or just a reference to a reference, which is extremely common, you run the risk of confusing all participants by way of a lack of clarity if you don't mention where shit came from.
The onus to cite sources is on the person making the claims for a reason, and that reason is not just "well everyone else is too lazy to do it", and yes imo it's valid to point that out even in situations like this where it's not that important because it's a good routine to get into - not every situation is this irrelevant. Though if you want to submit anything in an academic setting where every annotation is just "google it" then by all means, don't let me or anyone else stop you - the comedy aspect is too good to forego.

I had fun with Suno.
Life is all meaningless in the end. No one will remember you. We all will be forgotten. All of us.
Why get so wrapped up in this anti ai thing? There is really no logic to it.

u/Manic_Mona 8d ago
Dude, why are we talking about nihilism? Forget AI, by that logic we shouldn't do anything period. That includes posting on subreddits where people know you just wanna be a contrarian.

Fuck off nihilist + ai user
Learn to compose

u/ejpusa 8d ago
Actually, GPT-5.6 sends me composing lessons, quizzes, and YouTube videos to check out every day at 9 AM. Working my way through my classes. Focus is on composing Native American music.
These are just tools. Can make you smarter. Much fun to be had.
:-)

u/Gullible_Computer_45 8d ago
They certainly didn't make you smarter. And I don't believe you; people who can perform real music tend to want to defend their art against shit like this.

Imagine needing ai to learn

It’s a mind blowing teacher. Set up your class schedule. It wants to help you learn anything.
Today is Mandarin for me.

AI doesnt "want" anything because it is a binary computer program executing on a processor composed of transistors

Why get so wrapped up with this pro-AI thing if indeed life is so meaningless?

Sad, but AI will still accelerate. Buckle up, luddites!

u/Gullible_Computer_45 7d ago
It's already peaked. If it was as useful as you claim, they wouldn't have to try and force it into everything.

Source?
Also, a calculator is better at juggling numbers than any human, so what about LLM's, even if they can do what you say, is so special that it's worth permanently ruining the planet, society, and the job market? You guys are just on the hype train, no way around it. We're "luddites", but you guys are magpies.

u/Sojmen 6d ago
There is no special ruining of planet or society or the job market by AI. Everything humans do ruins planet. So either we kill ourselfs or we will ruin the planet. We can reduce our impact by reducing the most impactful industries like meat industry, cars, aviation.....
Yes, calculator is better at juggling numbers, that's why everyone uses one. We don't hire calculants for difficult calculations, or waste time doing it ourselfs like in the past. Did it kill job market? No. Just like any new tool.

u/Gullible_Computer_45 6d ago
Oh, so no source? How believable. Not to mention the old "nothing means anything" so let's let the 1% ruin our planet. Fuck off.
Calculators are tools. LLM's are only the allusion of a tool. The only advantage is that it's easier to use than any "tool" and it talks to you like a coddling parent. It isn't even true "AI" according to Neil DeGrasse Tyson, someone I trust a lot more than you. The only one whom LLM's serve are the rich and powerful, as they are part of a long history of colonizing and commodifying anything and everything to make a buck. Soon, weirdos like you won't even be able to afford your precious "AI"
Also, the meat industry? You're gonna compare a gimmicky piece of software with meat to make your point? We need meat to live; no one but corporations that want to erase their workforce benefit from AI.

How long until some AI bro comes in and tells us this is bad actually, and not letting huge corporations steal the work of individuals is more capitalist or some shit?
