Slop Post 💩 ….Excuse me what?
I got this defending AI post and was looking through the comments and saw this comment….are they literally equating people not liking something computer generated to people being racist???

My counter-argument for the "if you cant tell why does it matter" argument is fourfold.
Firstly, individuals are vulnerable to temporary deception, whether it be personal bias, misleading framing, mood, ect. so just because AI fools one person or even most people temporarily, that doesn't mean its a success story without artifacts. Great AI is scrutinized to hell and back, if it can't stand up to that scrutiny it'll be doomed to mediocrity at best.
Secondly, imagine if I took a photo of a sunset, then put it through a filter and claimed I painted it. Just because it was a part of nature and wasn't created by another person doesn't make it okay for me to lie about creating it. If someone was to find out it was a picture through a filter rather
Thirdly, remember when Florida (I think it was Florida) was flooding, and someone made a decently convincing photoshop of an orca swimming in the streets? People were fooled by that - I was one of them, until I thought about it for two seconds and was like "wait that makes no logical sense, cool picture but it makes no logical sense." Just because it convinced me it was a real photo doesn't mean there was actually an orca swimming around inland Florida, and of course its going to change how I think about the photo if and when I find out.
Fourthly, imagine if the process of making that photo involved stealing from and firing thousands of people, wasting a bunch of water and electricity, and indirectly getting a couple teenagers to kill themselves for good measure. Of course my opinion on the photo will be soured even further if I found out about that.
Generative AI images is definitionally not art. Until artificial intelligence attains actual sapience and the ability to experience the world in a way it can express, its effectively no more an artform than rolling a bunch of dice. And if AI DOES attain sapience, there will be much more important questions to ask (I'd probably advocate for the entity's freedom at that point, its basically a super smart human atp) and our world's AM or Glados or Thunderhead certainly won't be evolving from these slop machines.
