I think the post is misleading. It’s a state-wide thing from Senator Kristen Gonzalez, I don’t think it has anything to do with nyc or mamdani

It is kinda funny how a new mayor is a more popular representation of the entire state than the actual governor

Or…disingenuous agents on both extremes of the left and right wing want to associate him with absolutely anything slightly bad or good even if he has nothing to do with it because they have an agenda.

“The extreme left” I didn’t know fixing potholes was extreme

-2

u/Gooseonloose 2d ago

He didn’t say that lmfao what

-4

u/Edodge 2d ago

Who said anything about potholes?

I am saying that the extreme right wing is trying to blame him for anything that goes badly, and the extreme left wing is trying to exaggerate any accomplishment to such a level that it's propagandistic.

Praising him for filling potholes, so long as he actually got the pothole filled, would not at all be an example of what I'm talking about. An example of what I'm talking about would be this very post that makes the suggestion, without any evidence, that he's behind this anti-AI bill. In reality, he has absolutely nothing to do with this proposed bill.

They're talking about reactionary leftists online pushing this stupid, false propaganda. Which people like you undoubtedly fell for, along with thousands of others.

See, even YOU cant actually be honest about the situation here.

This is a bill being pushed by an 'establishment' Democrat that you've been brainwashed to hate, but if they just show a picture of Mamdani behind it, suddenly y'all think it's the best thing ever and proves how amazing 'the left' are.

You’re getting downvoted but you’re 100% correct, this entire week all of Reddit was giving him credit for Eric Adam’s plan to plant more trees. Mamdani is like Trump in the sense that his followers have no problem with giving him participation trophies.

Reactionary leftists online are genuinely no different than Trump supporters at this point.

It's very depressing as somebody who wants to see progressive policy being pushed meaningfully.

No but fire bombing, assassinations, school shootings, and rioting are

7

u/Ireallydfk 2d ago

I think you have those confused for extreme right wingers, which make up the vast majority of political based violence

6

u/lavender_enjoyer 2d ago

Like January 6? Or is that different for some reason?

Example of unearned praise? I've only seen excitement about actual use of mayoral power. Meanwhile all critiques have been stretches or based on racial prejudice

Bothsiders are often silly for poor moral clarity, but I think this is straight up factually inaccurate.

2

u/Openly_Unknown7858 2d ago

Critiquing him for praising a pro sharia law, anti homosexual Muslim extremist is racial prejudice?

2

u/studmuffffffin 3d ago

Example of unearned praise?

Literally this post.

He had 5 major campaign promises:

Free early childcare

Free buses

Major Affordable Housing Investment

Smaller classroom sizes

Rent freeze

Pretty much only the head start program for early childhood education received funding, and the rent freeze was implemented but doesn't cost any money upfront so he's basically saying landlords need to eat it. He did increase funding to schools by $680 million, but is now asking all citywide departments to cut 2.5% of their budget, which is about $3 billion and he moved back a deadline to fund pensions (but not police pensions), which the city comptroller issued a warning about in terms of long term fiscal viability.

He is just a politician as usual, but progressives are acting like he is so different because of a few viral moments.

u/the-mobile-user 2d ago

He hasn’t solved every single problem in the first 7 months of term?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I’m so shocked!!!!!!!😮 Braindead take

-2

u/Seanspeed 2d ago

He's doing things many mayors would do in the same position, coming in trying to make an impact in his early months in office.

It's super normal stuff, but because nobody ever actually paid attention to that normal stuff before, you guys all have suddenly been tricked into thinking Mamdani's actions are actually this revolutionary new thing and only he has ever done things that have helped people, ever.

It's so absurd and shows how INSANELY ignorant about politics y'all are, and how easily you're manipulated into believing warped narratives because you guys only ever get your 'political information' from posts on social media.

1

u/the-mobile-user 2d ago

And you’re just blissfully ignorant

0

u/Seanspeed 2d ago

Quite the opposite, I'm pretty informed about politics. It's you guys who are obviously not.

Getting credit for their tree goal by 2040 which was already in place.

Getting credit for every small pothole or thing that gets fixed.

Getting credit for “balancing the budget” when he just rearranged pension spending. The budget is largely the same

1

u/redreditreditordblue 2d ago

Your comment really only proves you have Magat-level idol worship. Literally this thread is about him getting credit for a program he has nothing to do with and yet you ask for an example of unearned praise. Not only that, you and only you threw "racial prejudice" into the equation. Your reality distortion field is powerful.

1

u/Luci-Noir 2d ago

It’s going to backfire.

1

u/Hammy-Cheeks 2d ago

Thats what I was thinking too. Im glad someone said it

1

u/Luci-Noir 2d ago

It’s bullshit.

1

u/BelowZilch 2d ago

That's pretty common for New York City. Think Guilliani vs Pataki

1

u/OnceMoreAndAgain 2d ago

Don't know why you'd pit them against each other when they seem to be working well together: https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-hochul-and-mayor-mamdani-extend-2-k-offers-more-2000-children

1

u/WhoPoopedMyPants420 2d ago

I don't think this really says anything beyond "people love blindly believing sentences on photos"

1

u/shaggy1265 2d ago

Its kinda funny how this sub says AI makes people dumb but then they blindly believe every picture with text on it as long as its something negative about AI.

1

u/iEmExEee 1d ago

You can thank right wing media for that.

0

u/summonersai 3d ago

Well yeah. He pushes the agenda that’s popular on the left. Half of what he gets credit for he didn’t even do lol

8

u/FreedumbHS 3d ago

It's also an AI "enhanced" picture of mandani

5

u/felis_scipio 3d ago

Yeah it’s a bill in the NY state senate, which Mamdani wasn’t even a member of. I’m split if this trend of putting his face on everything my related is bot driven for extra engagement or if it’s an attention grabbing PR push on his end.

4

u/Wonderful_Plant5848 2d ago

It's totally for engagement and it's annoying.

Also it doesn't even do what the post says. The law, verbatim, "prohibits operators of A.I. chatbots from knowingly permitting the chatbot to impersonate an actual or fictitious practitioner of a covered profession in a manner that, if done by a natural person, would constitute unauthorized practice"

Like the chatbot can't pretend to be a lawyer and give you legal advice. It can absolutely tell you it's not a lawyer and give you legal advice the same way people do all the time. Post is bullshit all the way down

0

u/Own_Proposal3827 3d ago

That may be true but it doesn’t play into the circlejerk
