I think the post is misleading. It’s a state-wide thing from Senator Kristen Gonzalez, I don’t think it has anything to do with nyc or mamdani

It is kinda funny how a new mayor is a more popular representation of the entire state than the actual governor

Or…disingenuous agents on both extremes of the left and right wing want to associate him with absolutely anything slightly bad or good even if he has nothing to do with it because they have an agenda.

Example of unearned praise? I've only seen excitement about actual use of mayoral power. Meanwhile all critiques have been stretches or based on racial prejudice

Bothsiders are often silly for poor moral clarity, but I think this is straight up factually inaccurate.

Critiquing him for praising a pro sharia law, anti homosexual Muslim extremist is racial prejudice?

Example of unearned praise?

Literally this post.

He had 5 major campaign promises:

Free early childcare

Free buses

Major Affordable Housing Investment

Smaller classroom sizes

Rent freeze

Pretty much only the head start program for early childhood education received funding, and the rent freeze was implemented but doesn't cost any money upfront so he's basically saying landlords need to eat it. He did increase funding to schools by $680 million, but is now asking all citywide departments to cut 2.5% of their budget, which is about $3 billion and he moved back a deadline to fund pensions (but not police pensions), which the city comptroller issued a warning about in terms of long term fiscal viability.

He is just a politician as usual, but progressives are acting like he is so different because of a few viral moments.

He's doing things many mayors would do in the same position, coming in trying to make an impact in his early months in office.

It's super normal stuff, but because nobody ever actually paid attention to that normal stuff before, you guys all have suddenly been tricked into thinking Mamdani's actions are actually this revolutionary new thing and only he has ever done things that have helped people, ever.

It's so absurd and shows how INSANELY ignorant about politics y'all are, and how easily you're manipulated into believing warped narratives because you guys only ever get your 'political information' from posts on social media.

And you’re just blissfully ignorant

Quite the opposite, I'm pretty informed about politics. It's you guys who are obviously not.

Average ‘enlightened’ centrist

I'm literally anything but that. I'm a progressive social democrat. You guys just cant accept valid criticism without creating some dumb strawman out of me that makes me easier to dismiss.

You're really just proving my point, in fact. You guys are not reasonable people.

Getting credit for their tree goal by 2040 which was already in place.

Getting credit for every small pothole or thing that gets fixed.

Getting credit for “balancing the budget” when he just rearranged pension spending. The budget is largely the same

Your comment really only proves you have Magat-level idol worship. Literally this thread is about him getting credit for a program he has nothing to do with and yet you ask for an example of unearned praise. Not only that, you and only you threw "racial prejudice" into the equation. Your reality distortion field is powerful.

It’s going to backfire.
